Job Responsibilities

  • Overseeing daily operations of the canteen, including food preparation and service;

  • Maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards as per regulations;

  • Training and managing kitchen and service staff.

  • Assigning duties and schedules to ensure adequate staffing.

  • Monitoring staff performance and discipline.

  • Enforcing strict hygiene practices in food handling, cooking, and storage.

  • Conducting regular inspections of kitchen equipment, storage areas, and dining spaces.

  • Planning menus that are nutritious, cost-effective, and cater to related consumers

  • Maintaining stock of raw materials and kitchen supplies.

  • Establishing relationships with vendors and negotiate rates;

  • Monitoring inventory levels and reducing wastage.

  • Preparing and managing the canteen’s budget;

  • Pricing the items reasonably as directed by authority;

  • Monitoring costs and taking steps to minimize overheads.

  • Addressing complaints or feedback from students, faculty, hospital staff, and visitors.

  • Ensuring timely and proper service.

  • Maintaining      proper records of food supplies, staff attendance, billing, and vendor payments.

  • Attending meetings with college, hospital and hall management.

  • Aligning canteen operations with the institution's policies and special events.

  • Be prepared to support hospital needs during emergencies (pandemics, disasters).

  • Adjust services for special occasions, academic events, or student functions.

  • Ensuring that students are treated with respect and dignity and should any issues arise, these will be immediately reported in writing to the authority.

  • Executing any other duties assigned by the authority
