Responsibilities & Context:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a bar, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient staff performance, and profitability. This role includes managing inventory, controlling costs, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations. The Bar Manager recruits, trains, and supervises staff, creates drink menus, and ensures consistency in beverage quality and presentation. Strong leadership, organizational skills, and knowledge of mixology and industry trends are essential to drive customer satisfaction and business success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee daily bar operations and supervise bar staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Create a positive and professional team environment among bar staff.

  • Maintain records of stock levels, sales, and operating costs.

  • Provide regular feedback, training, and coaching to bar team members.

  • Ensure team capability through continuous training and skill development.

  • Treat all team members fairly and with respect.

  • Set high standards for hygiene, grooming, and behavior during shifts.

  • Ensure proper preparation and presentation of beverages.

  • Enforce responsible alcohol service and compliance with legal regulations.

  • Handle guest complaints efficiently and professionally.

  • Conduct regular staff meetings to review procedures and gather feedback.

  • Maintain budget control, employee records, and monitor bar expenses.

  • Check quality and quantity of beverage deliveries and supplies.

  • Coordinate with suppliers to order beverages, glassware, and bar equipment.

  • Ensure proper storage of beverages and adherence to safety standards.

  • Arrange maintenance and repair of bar equipment.

  • Reconcile daily sales, monitor cash handling, and ensure accurate billing.

  • Develop and implement new drink menus and promotions.

  • Ensure consistency in drink recipes and quality standards.

  • Handle difficult or intoxicated customers calmly and responsibly.

  • Maintain high levels of customer service and guest satisfaction.

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and engagement with guests at the bar.

  • Adapt to operational challenges such as high volume or staff shortages.

  • Forecast bar inventory and staffing requirements effectively.

  • Prioritize tasks to ensure smooth bar operations.

  • Delegate duties effectively and follow up on performance.

  • Take ownership of issues and report updates to the F&B Manager and General Manager.

  • Seek, listen, and respond to guest feedback.

  • Train staff to exceed guest expectations in beverage service.

  • Take accountability for operational issues and resolve them proactively.

  • Identify problems through reports and implement corrective actions.

  • Use computer systems for inventory control, staff scheduling, and reporting.

  • Operate POS systems and bar management software efficiently.

  • Assist in planning beverage menus for regular service and special events.
