Experience:
• 3 years of experience working with children or in an educational setting is advantageous.

• Basic computer literacy for handling school administrative tasks.

Position Overview:
The Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Lead Teacher to support classroom activities and contribute to the academic and personal development of students. This role involves creating a supportive and engaging learning environment, ensuring the well-being of students and assisting with lesson delivery and classroom management. The position is integral to the mission of Muslim Hands School of Excellence, providing high-quality education to underserved communities.
Reporting Supervisor: Principal
Type of appointment: Regular under annual contract and is renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support:
• Assist the Lead Teacher in delivering lessons, preparing teaching materials and setting up classroom activities.
• Help manage the classroom by maintaining order, ensuring that students follow the rules and providing a positive learning environment.
• Support individual students or small groups with assignments, projects and other learning activities.
Student Assistance:
• Provide additional help to students who need extra support, including those with special educational needs.
• Monitor student progress, participate in evaluations and report any concerns to the Lead Teacher.
• Supervise students during out of classroom, such as during breaks, lunchtimes and field trips.
Administrative Tasks:
• Assist in the preparation and organization of lesson plans, teaching materials and classroom displays.
• Help with record-keeping, attendance and progress tracking as required by the school’s policies.
• Coordinate with school staff to manage daily operations and special events.
Parental Engagement:
• Communicate with parents/guardians as needed, providing feedback on student progress and behavior.
• Attend parent-teacher meetings and support community outreach initiatives related to the school.
Professional Development:
• Participate in ongoing training, workshops and meetings to develop teaching skills and enhance knowledge.
• Stay updated on new educational techniques and strategies, particularly those related to inclusive education and student well-being.
