Position Overview:

The position Senior Teacher (English) will be responsible for creating a nurturing and supportive educational environment for students. The primary objective will be to deliver high-quality lessons aligned with the school's curriculum, inspire learning and contribute to students' spiritual and academic growth.

Reporting Supervisor: Principal

Type of appointment: Regular under annual contract and is renewable subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Lesson Planning & Delivery:

• Develop high-quality lesson plans in line with the national curriculum and the school’s objectives, with a focus on English language and literature.

• Deliver engaging and effective English lessons to students of varying ages and abilities, modelling best practice in teaching.

• Utilize a wide range of teaching and learning methods (including interactive activities, storytelling, group work, differentiation and technology) to ensure all students achieve competencies in reading, writing, speaking and listening.

• Develop, review and effectively use high-quality teaching-learning materials across the department.

Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring:

• Assess and track students’ academic performance in English and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.

• Regularly evaluate students’ progress in language skills and adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.

• Prepare students for examinations, including both formative and summative assessments.

Spiritual & Ethical Education:

• Incorporate Islamic norms and values into daily lessons and classroom activities.

• Guide students on moral and ethical behavior in accordance with Islamic principles.

Classroom Management:

• Maintain a positive, disciplined and inclusive classroom environment that is highly conducive to language learning.

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all students while in the classroom and on school premises.

• Support colleagues in developing effective classroom management strategies.

Collaboration & Professional Development:

• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and other stakeholders to support student development.

• Participate in staff meetings, professional development programs, and school events.

Extracurricular Activities:

• Support and/or lead extracurricular activities related to English, such as debate clubs, reading clubs, storytelling sessions, language competitions or Islamic studies programmes that involve English communication, as required.

Administrative Duties:

• Maintain accurate records, including attendance, student progress and any other documentation required by the school.

• Contribute to reports for school management and external stakeholders as needed.
