Job Context:
∎ Islamic Relief in Bangladesh has adopted an integrated approach to address disaster and climate risks. In partnership with Government, Academic Institutions, Civil Society, Communities and Private Sectors, we are working to build a vibrant, thriving and resilient Bangladesh. We help local communities, institutions and local partner organisations to build and scale up their capacity. We promote and integrate traditional and indigenous knowledge, blend with scienti?c approach through creating practical, replicable and impact oriented solutions to strengthen community resilience. We focus on driving sustainable impact through increasing the transfer of know-how to local strategic partners and local government agencies. We support government and other service providers in developing their capacity to deliver safe water, hygiene and sanitation–which we view as essential to development. During the time of humanitarian crisis Islamic Relief supports communities in building safe houses, creating provision of safe drinking water and supports livelihoods in the form of cash or kind. In addition, we work with communities to build their capacity and raise awareness around issues which require change in behaviours and practices.
∎ There are two regular programmes which IRB runs during Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. We distribute comprehensive food kits to the impoverished families in Ramadan. We ensure nutrition by providing sacri?cial meat to the marginalised people in Eid al Adha who hardly a?ords meat. We provide emergency assistance during disasters. Islamic Relief always extends humanitarian support to the victims of the disaster to mitigate their diversi?ed needs. This ensures basic needs including food security. Through our humanitarian programs we cater the immediate and medium-term needs, raise awareness and launch hygiene facilities.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ General Part:
∎ Implementation of the project in target location/s (40%):
∎ Responsible for all community-level activities at assigned location/s under the supervision of Project Focal / Supervisor.
∎ Organize the project inception meeting with different level stakeholders.
∎ Provision of IRB country strategy implementation at field level.
∎ Ensure selection of beneficiaries according to criteria defined in proposal and validate it by the respective authority.
∎ Ensure inclusion of gender, persons with disabilities, elderly, and other vulnerable communities according to the IR Principle and guideline during participant selection and other steps of implementation.
∎ Implementation of the assigned project activities i.e. emergency relief, Cash for Work (CfW), in-kind or cash distribution, etc.
∎ Prepare attendance sheet, muster roll, and any other documents for audit compliances.
∎ Prepare field movement and community engagement plan, approve it with supervisor and ensure strict alignment with the plan.
∎ Support / Participate in different need assessments, impact evaluation, post-distribution monitoring (PDM), etc.
∎ Ensure other planned activities such as various workshops and meetings.
∎ Maintain coordination and cooperation with the technical team members.
∎ Engage in effective community mobilization within IR guidelines and compliances.
∎ Be aligned with the agreed time, cost, and quality constraints of the project to enable the delivery of the agreed outputs and/or benefits.
∎ Practice and promote SPHERE and Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) in all project activities. Support to ensure Complaints & Feedback Mechanism (CFM), Child Protection, Safeguarding & Gender Sensitivity issues concerning project activities.
∎ Ensure effective monitoring of project intervention (20%):
∎ Regular monitoring of WASH/emergency relief/recovery/rehabilitation activities at the beneficiary level.
∎ Regular monitoring of project-related activities especially the distribution of hygiene kits, toolboxes for repair and maintenance of WASH interventions, foods, NFIs, cash, etc. at the beneficiary level.
∎ Monitor the working progress & ensure the quality of project activities, materials & inform project focal / supervisor.
∎ Capacity building initiatives for project participants, key stakeholders, and project staff at the program level (15%):
∎ Support to organize orientation for the newly recruited project staff.
∎ Organize basic skill development training for project participants on different subjects i.e. repair and maintenance of WASH interventions, shelter, health & hygiene promotion, etc.
∎ Participate and facilitate weekly and monthly project-related awareness-raising and feedback sessions i.e. courtyard meetings at the community level.
∎ Orient key stakeholders on Complaints & Feedback Mechanism (CFM), Child Protection, Safeguarding & Gender Sensitivity issues concerning project activities.
∎ Organize training and workshop in different sectors for internal and external stakeholders.
∎ Ensure effective reporting, appropriate archiving and visibility according to the project need (10%):
∎ Prepare bill & check the bills vouchers.
∎ Support supervisor to prepare monthly, quarterly, interim and final narrative reports as per proposal and project need.
∎ Assist supervisor to prepare monthly progress reports.
∎ Prepare, approve, organize and preserve all project-related documents and ensure sending to Humanitarian & Resilience Programme department within due time.
∎ Prepare or collect media & communication materials (Photographs, Case studies, etc.) required to ensure project visibility.
∎ Assist in archiving the project documents (hard copy and electronic copy) as per IR guidelines.
∎ Ensures comprehensive and effective communication, coordination, and advocacy with different stakeholders (10%):
∎ Support to organize the project inception meeting with different level stakeholders.
∎ Ensure effective networking and coordination with Upazila and DC office.
∎ Establish and maintain an effective coordination mechanism with key stakeholders of the project.
∎ Represent Islamic Relief Bangladesh in coordination meeting at Upazila and district level.
∎ Assist in the phase-out meeting and lesson learned workshop for further organizational development.
∎ Collect successful project completion letters from relevant authorities.
∎ Other Requirement (5%):
∎ Participate & involved with seasonal programs (Ramadan, Qurbani, Winterization, etc.) activities.
∎ Ensure that local purchases and expenditures are done as per Islamic Relief Bangladesh policy.
∎ Maintain the stock book, inventory, and other essential registers properly and timely in an effective manner.
∎ Support in the procurement of materials like requisition, follow-up, etc.
