Job Responsibilities:
∎ Project Implementation & Field-Level Activities 50%
∎ Selection of beneficiaries, community needs assessment according to criteria defined in the proposal and validate it by respective authorities;
∎ Assist the project team to provide technical support on Child Rights & Protection;
∎ Develop the work plan and carry out all activities accordingly;
∎ Form & develop the capacity of the community-based child protection committee (CBCPC);
∎ Develop a school-based child protection committee;
∎ Provide required support to CBCPC to prevent early marriage;
∎ Conduct workshop/training with community women, men, girls and boys including male & female faith- leaders
∎ Visit to Households of selected beneficiaries regularly to monitor IGAs and the overall condition of HHs;
∎ Support to ensure adolescent child's access to education and follow up educational progress;
∎ Support to form & develop adolescent clubs at the community level;
∎ Conduct training/workshops on child rights, life skills (focusing on SRHR), child participation, child protection, self-defence, leadership and psycho-social for club members;
∎ Receive and verify information on early marriage from the communities;
∎ Monitoring early marriage & GBV incidents and reporting to relevant offices/departments;
∎ Conduct monthly meetings with the child protection committee to follow up on early marriage issues in communities;
∎ Support forming and making functional Self-help groups of selected beneficiaries at the community level;
∎ Support Adolescent clubs and make the clubs functional
∎ Provide necessary IGA support by planning individual IGA and analyzing their skill, need and capacity;
∎ Follow up Income Generating Activities of each project participant;
∎ Attend meetings, workshops at a different level;
∎ Support developing awareness materials
∎ Ensure the supply of materials to the child clubs and self-help groups
∎ Conduct awareness sessions on health, WASH, nutrition and disaster risk reduction according to the implementation plan.
∎ Ensure inclusion of gender, persons with disabilities, elderly and other vulnerable communities according to the IR Principle and guidelines during participant selection and other steps of implementation.
∎ Support for ensuring Complaints & Feedback Mechanism (CFM), Child Protection, Safeguarding & Gender Sensitivity issues with project activities
∎ Advocacy, Networking and Communication 20%
∎ Conduct effective networking and coordination with Union and the Upazila office and key stakeholders.
∎ Networking with Government officials to link climate adaptive activities and SSN support
∎ Organize Advocacy and awareness sessions/workshops on existing laws and policies on preventing Early marriage including duty bearers at the Upazila level (LGIs, Govt. representatives, teachers, faith leaders, marriage registers)
∎ Advocacy with Education Dept. institutions to establish girl-friendly and early marriage-free institutions;
∎ Advocacy with relevant office/department for ensuring digital birth registration;
∎ Organize day celebration of child rights week, Int. girl child day, women's Day and so on.
∎ Organize awareness campaigns on child rights/protection, early marriage, and GBV at the community level
∎ Develop networks on child rights at the Upazila level to stop early marriage;
∎ Represent Islamic Relief Bangladesh in coordination meetings at Union and City levels.
∎ Reporting and Documentation 15%
∎ Support supervisor to prepare monthly, quarterly, interim and final narrative reports as per the proposal and project needs.
∎ Collect the most significant case stories from the field and prepare a learning document;
∎ Prepare event reports of different project activities
∎ Prepare the bill & check the bill vouchers as required.
∎ Prepare or collect media & communication materials (Photographs, Case studies, etc.) required to ensure project visibility
∎ Assist in archiving the project documents (hard copy and electronic copy) as per IR guidelines.
∎ Monitoring & Evaluation and Knowledge Management 10%
∎ Monitor group progress and facilitate proper functioning.
∎ Provide proper guidance to update group accounts, register books, and maintain the records;
∎ Conduct group assessments and support to deal with gaps.
∎ Conduct regular group meetings for getting and sharing updates on progress and facilitate learnings and experiences sharing within the group and prepare the next plan for action.
∎ Assist to develop training modules on child rights, life skills (focusing on SRHR), child participation, child protection, leadership and psycho-social
∎ Regularly review the existing guidelines and add new ones as necessary to ensure compliance with legislation or where desirable as good practice.
∎ Assist to develop awareness campaign materials on early marriage
∎ Develop guidelines & ToR for community-based child protection mechanism
∎ Develop an Information sheet of discussion topics/contents for Child Club and SHG
∎ Other requirements 5%
∎ Participate & involved with seasonal programs (Ramadan, Qurbani, Winterization etc.) activities as required;
∎ Ensure that local purchases and expenditures are done following IRB policy;
∎ Support in the procurement of materials like requisition, follow-up etc.
∎ Facilitate donor/external visits and ensure that the recommendation of the visitor is addressed.
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, exploitation, Fraud, Bribery & Money Laundering to achieve the program's goals of safeguarding implementation and as well as Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on the safeguarding of harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation, Fraud, Bribery & Money Laundering for establishing a safe working environment
∎ Being a member of Islamic Relief as a child-friendly organization, it is the core responsibility and obligation of each staff member to understand and obey the IR Child Protection & PSEA Policy and respond accordingly as and when required.
∎ Willing and able to travel frequently for extended periods and to remote areas of the projects.
∎ Perform any other duties as per need of the project implementation.
