Responsibilities & Context:

The purpose of this role is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the research center and ensure the efficient, safe, and high-quality production of recycled plastic products. The Assistant Officer – Research Center Operation is responsible for supervising production processes, maintaining quality standards, promoting health, safety, and environmental compliance, and coordinating research center operations to achieve operational targets. As a key member of the operations team, S/he works closely with maintenance, procurement, warehouse, and management teams to optimize resource utilization, minimize downtime, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. S/he contributes to overall productivity, sustainability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Production Operations

  • Supervise daily plastic recycling processes, including sorting, washing, shredding, extrusion, and pelletizing.

  • Ensure production targets and operational schedules are achieved.

  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime.

  • Optimize operational efficiency and resource utilization.

Quality Control

  • Ensure recycled plastic products meet specified quality standards.

  • Monitor raw material quality and processing parameters.

  • Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective actions when necessary.

  • Maintain quality assurance records and reports.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

  • Enforce workplace health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Conduct safety briefings and toolbox meetings.

  • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Monitor compliance with environmental regulations and waste management practices.

  • Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and near misses.

Team Management

  • Supervise operators, technicians, and support staff.

  • Assign tasks and monitor employee performance.

  • Provide training and coaching to improve operational skills and safety awareness.

  • Foster teamwork and maintain discipline within the workforce.

Inventory and Resource Management

  • Monitor stock levels of raw materials, spare parts, and consumables.

  • Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams for timely supply.

  • Minimize material losses and improve resource efficiency.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.

  • Maintain records of production output, downtime, maintenance, and safety incidents.

  • Report operational issues and recommend improvement measures to management.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.

  • Implement process improvement initiatives and best practices.

  • Support the adoption of new technologies and recycling methods.
