Core Responsibilities:

• Performs troubleshooting and maintenance of biomedical equipment.

• Tests and installs biomedical equipment according to engineering instructions and technical manuals.

• Performs monthly check according to technical manual of all biomedical equipment.

• Provides technical assistance to hospital staff in the operation of biomedical equipment.

• Sets-up test equipment for the appropriate testing of new biomedical equipment; analyzes performance and reliability and summarizes the results.

• Develops product documentation as needed.

• Provides oversight for the activities of Sub Assistant Biomedical Engineer/ Technician.

Subsidiary Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of various contracts, requests for proposals, and reports.

• Perform the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit.

• Maintain awareness of new trends and developments in the field of biomedical equipment maintenance; recommend new developments as appropriate.

• Works with external contractors and service companies when required. May provide supervision of external contractors assuring all work related safety equipment is available and utilized properly.

• Answer questions and provides information to hospital staff and departments.

• Performs skilled preventive and corrective maintenance procedures utilizing test equipment and appropriate power and hand tools.

• Communicates with hospital department supervisors and workers to coordinate maintenance work so as to minimize discomfort or disruption and complete work in a timely manner.
