Postgraduate degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agrotechnology, Agri-economics, and Agriculture Extension in any reputed University. (Candidates holding a diploma in agriculture will not be considered)

  • At least 3 years of practical experience in livelihood development, preferably in NGOs/INGOs or donor-funded projects in reputed NGOs.

  • Experience working in climate-vulnerable or coastal areas will be preferred.

  • Skills in market systems, IGA development, value chains, or community-based interventions are strong assets.

  • Have experience in participatory program planning, management, monitoring, evaluation, and PRA tools.

  • Can drive motorbikes in rural areas with a valid motorcycle driving license.

  • Familiar with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, photography, and videography.

  • Commitment to LEDARS’s values, including gender equity, social inclusion, and safeguarding.

  • CV must have at least 3 references, including the last organization.



Responsibilities & Context:

Job Summary:

LEDARS (Local Environment Development and Agricultural Research Society), an NGO registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau, has been working in the climate-vulnerable southwest coastal region of Bangladesh since 1996. The region faces severe challenges due to the adverse impacts of climate change, affecting the lives and livelihoods of local communities. LEDARS has been implementing numerous programs in this region. As part of its continued mission to climate resilience and community development, LEDARS is going to appoint a proactive and experienced “Agriculture & Livelihood Officer” who will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring livelihood development activities. This is a senior-level position responsible for playing a key role in enhancing income-generating opportunities, promoting climate-resilient agriculture, and supporting entrepreneurship among targeted beneficiaries. The following are the major job requirements of this post.

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and implement sustainable and climate-resilient livelihood interventions aligned with project objectives.

  • Responsible for providing real-time solutions to the smallholder farmers facing the negative impact of Climate Change.

  • S/he is responsible for the development of the agriculture-related business of beneficiaries.

  • Facilitate community mobilization and beneficiary selection in collaboration with field staff and local stakeholders.

  • S/he has to spend at least 60% of the time on field-level intervention to provide technical support for field staff, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders.

  • Provide technical support in livelihood diversification (e.g. agriculture, aquaculture, livestock and small businesses).

  • S/he is responsible for organizing training, capacity-building sessions and exposure visits for beneficiaries on improved agricultural practices, entrepreneurship and market linkages.

  • Develop different technical training materials and handouts on resilient agriculture, livelihoods, small-scale livestock, agri-business, and other topics as necessary.

  • Monitor the daily field activities and provide necessary guidelines/technical assistance to the project staff, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders to establish resilient agriculture and agri-business.

  • Support in developing value chain analysis and market assessment to identify profitable IGAs (Income Generating Activities).

  • Assist in preparing periodic progress reports and contribute to donor reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate with local government, private sector actors, and NGOs for effective implementation and resource mobilization.

  • Ensure gender and social inclusion in all livelihood interventions.

  • Maintain liaison with different agencies/stakeholders/government departments at the upazila and district level.



Job Other Benifits:

    Salary: Provisionary period 40,000.00 Taka, after confirmation 45,000.00 Taka

    Other benefits: Yearly increment, two festival bonuses, Contributory Provident fund, Gratuity, phone bill, and travel expenses as per organizational policy.
