Responsibilities & Context:

Job context : Hijra and marginalize people often confront stigma, prejudice, discrimination and sometimes violence based on their gender identity. The Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights report also documented widespread discrimination in employment, education, health and other areas of Hijra and marginalize persons around the world. The Advocacy Coordinator will represent BANDHU in national level; will advocate & take advocacy initiatives with officials from governments, networks, alliance and agencies; will foster and strengthen partnerships with SRHR related networks other human rights and civil society organizations, particularly with local partners; and will lead collaborations for effective referral mechanism to ensure SRHR including HIV services. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the project team and integrated SRH/KP clinic under this project.

  • Assist in designing, planning and implementing advocacy strategy and campaigns aiming to achieve Project/BANDHU goals.

  • Prepare monthly work plan of the project including advocacy activities at and implement the activities as per the approved work plan.

  • Provide technical supports to project staff for performing their assigned tasks effectively.

  • Ensure effective liaise and network within inter and intra organizations working on health and human rights issues and update the progress as you instructed from line management.

  • Maintain and foster effective coordination, collaboration and networking with SRHR related networks/alliance/agencies, Human Rights organizations, Civil society for ensuring access to SRH services of Hijra and marginalize people.

  • Arrange and facilitating consultation/advocacy meetings with corporate stakeholders, law enforcing agencies, cyber security department, legal experts, media houses and faith leaders etc.

  • Consultation with key personnel of DGHS/DGFP under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) focusing SRHR including HIV prevention and Care.

  • Strengthen SRHR-HIV referral pathway across the country in partnership with Networks/agencies for hijra and marginalize people.

  • Coordinate to conduct different studies related to SRHR and collecting, managing & analyzing research material related for BANDHU programs.

  • In communication with Public Relation and the communication focal of the organization, develop and keep smooth relationship with both Print and Electronic media and organize dialogue with the media and related organizations as and when required.

  • Engage and build working relationships with Hijra and marginalize organizations and advocates.

  • Developing IEC materials related to SRHR and GBV (i.e. Booklet, leaflet, poster, sticker etc).

  • Contribute in managing articles, writing for Newsletter or Annual report or any kinds of publications and publish as well as disseminate accordingly.

  • Draft and circulate press release of various events undertaken by the project and Organization.

  • Produce periodic progress reports as per work plan/required by the line manager and management and ensure timely deliverable.

  • Provide active support to line management to review activity plan, working procedures, strategies revision as and when required and ensure proper coordination with other fellow colleagues of the department across the organization.

  • Contribute to develop, design or review training policy/procedures, training modules, manuals, session plan, SRHR and GBV and manage training/other events consulting with line manager.

  • Design and organize capacity building training for program beneficiaries as well staff and conduct sessions.

  • Assist in reviewing training feedback for improving its quality and contents.    

  • Ensure proper documentation of all records of training, assessment, evaluation, impact and reports etc.

  • Assist in designing and implementing an effective system for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of project activities.

  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by management.

Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the BANDHU focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Provide contents for regular update of BANDHU website and uploading information and materials.

  • Active participation within the process of producing the quarterly news letter of Bandhu.

  • Take research initiative using BANDHU M&E data and produce report accordingly; Develop the ToR or RFP for hire external consultant for conduct and study/ assessment/ evaluation of the program/project.

  • Support to design and conduct a range of impact assessments in line with the stated outputs and outcomes of BANDHU and their donors.

  • Active participation within the process of producing the annual report of the organization and event report
