Additional Requirements:
  • Age At least 30 years
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s/MBA degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant subject from any reputed university.

  • At least 5 years of experience in accounts and finance related work in any reputed organization preferably within development organization.

  • Knowledge and Experience in managing donor-funded projects, budgeting, procurement, finance, monitoring, and external audits.

  • Practical knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Tally or similar ERP systems) and strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software.

  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and effectively coordinate with FIVDB central management, donor (KNH) and relevant stakeholders.

Key Competencies:

  • Good understanding of Gender, Gender Based Violence, and prevention.

  • Good understanding of child safeguarding and equality for girls.

  • Commitment to gender equality, child protection, PSEA and related principles (Desirable).

Responsibilities & Context:

Job Context:

Friends In Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB) is going to implement Ashroy (Advancing Child Rights for Resilient Growth in Haors of Sylhet District) and Surokkha (Protect the Rights, Promote the Growth) Projects with support from Kindernothilfe (KNH). Both the Projects’ aim is to create a protective, inclusive and enabling environment in Haor and Tea worker communities from Sylhet Sadar, Kanaighat and Jaintapur Upazila where children-especially the most marginalized are safe, respected and supported to reach their full potential. The key changes envisioned are:

  • Reduction in violation of Child Rights

  • Functional community-based protection mechanism

  • Improved Community and Family Practices

  • Building agency of adolescents /Stronger Adolescent Participation and Leadership

  • Enhanced Access to Protection Services

  • Child-centered climate change adaptation and mitigation

  • Accountable and Responsive Duty Bearers

  • Resilient Systems and Improved Social Norms

The Projects’ period is from April 2026 to December 2030. By the end of these projects, Haor and Tea worker communities will have a reduced incidence of child rights violations, more supportive parenting and household practices and a network of empowered adolescents able to advocate for themselves. Duty bearers will be more responsive and systems for protection more robust and inclusive, ensuring sustainable safeguarding of children beyond the project lifecycle.

Job Summary:

The Accounts and Admin Officer is responsible for the management of financial, administrative, and procurement functions for the Ashroy and Surokkha projects. This role ensures that all operational activities remain smooth, transparent, and in full compliance with FIVDB’s internal policies, donor (KNH) regulations, and the Government of Bangladesh's financial rules. The officer will serve the projects by maintaining accurate financial records while overseeing the logistical and asset management needs of the project offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure overall project administrative and financial activities for smooth operation and maintaining details of project financial transfers and payments.

  • Responsible for ensuring day-to-day project’s cash needs, transfers, payments, reviewing invoices, check all bill voucher and finance documentations that are made available on demand.

  • Track project expenditures and prepare accurate financial reports in a timely manner as required by the project.

  • Maintain up-to-date books of account and data entry in Tally Accounting Software and preserve all kinds of subsidiary registers.

  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations, FIVDB policies, and relevant GoB financial rules, including timely submission of required documentation for audits and reviews. Manage project funds effectively, ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to approved budgets.

  • Oversee procurement activities, including purchase of goods and services, ensuring adherence to procurement guidelines and proper documentation.

  • Manage project assets, maintaining an updated asset register, ensuring proper utilization, safeguarding, and timely reporting of assets.

  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by the FIVDB authority, beyond those explicitly stated in the JD/ToR.
