Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Overseeing the daily operations of a transportation department, including scheduling and routing
∎ Ensuring that all vehicles, equipment, and staff meet relevant regulations
∎ Managing transportation and maintenance budgets, and making recommendations for cost-saving measures
∎ Monitoring driver hours and performance, and ensuring they follow safe driving practices
∎ Supervising loading and offloading
∎ Ensuring that cargo is loaded and offloaded correctly and safely
∎ Documenting activities
∎ Documenting all transportation activities in a database, including trip logs and reports
∎ Resolving any issues or problems that arise during the transportation process, including accidents or delays
∎ Transportation supervisors typically work in organizations that rely heavily on vehicle use, such as delivery companies.
∎ Managing operations
