Responsibilities & Context:

About the role

RAT'S BD builds and installs security and tracking systems for retailers and factories across Bangladesh — anti-theft gates, RFID tracking, access control, CCTV and intrusion alarms.

We are hiring a Technical Engineer who works on both sides of our systems: the hardware in the field and the software behind it. The core of the job is making the two talk to each other — a card reader to a database, a relay to a web application, an attendance device to a payroll module.

You will not be handed a narrow lane. In one week you might configure an access controller at a school, fix a bug in our ERP, flash firmware onto one of our own boards, and sit in on a site survey at a garment factory. If that sounds like too many things, this is not the job. If it sounds like the reason to take it, read on.

What you will do

Integration — the centre of the role

- Connect hardware to software: UHF RFID readers, Wiegand card readers, relay controllers, biometric attendance devices, IP cameras

- Work with manufacturer SDKs and APIs (currently C#/.NET for our UHF readers) to pull device data into our systems

- Build and maintain the small tools that sit between a device and a database

Software

- Help maintain our in-house ERP at erp.ratsbd.com — a Laravel application covering inventory, quotations, invoices, cash, HR and payroll, live with real company data

- Fix bugs, add small features, support the people using it day to day

- Keep the integrations running: biometric attendance sync, live exchange-rate feed

- The system is thoroughly documented. Your first job is to read it, not rewrite it

Hardware and field work

- Assemble, flash, test and troubleshoot our in-house controller boards

- Install and commission systems on client sites: EAS pedestals, access controllers, readers, cameras, alarm panels

- Tune systems after installation — false alarms, read failures, detection rates

- Join site surveys and learn to run them

Documentation and support

- Prepare bills of quantity and the technical sections of client proposals

- Write as-built documentation so the next person can find things

- Handle client technical support calls and escalations

- Support product demonstrations at client sites and trade shows

What we are looking for

Required

- B.Sc. in CSE, EEE, ECE or a related field, or a diploma in electronics with hands-on experience. Fresh graduates are welcome and encouraged to apply. Running students are welcome too — if you are in your final year or close to it, understand your fundamentals, have hands-on experience to show, and can commit to a full-time on-site job with site visits, apply. We will look at what you have built, not at whether the certificate is in your hand yet

- Something you have actually built, that you can show us. An ESP32 or Arduino project, a web application you deployed, a device you made talk to a server, anything. A photo, a GitHub link or a working demo counts for more here than your CGPA

- Some programming: PHP (Laravel is a plus), Python, C/C++ or C#. You do not need all of them; you do need to be able to read code you did not write

- Basic SQL

- Basic electronics: read a schematic, use a multimeter, solder, wire up a relay, understand the difference between 3.3 V and 5 V logic

- Basic networking: IP addresses, subnets, ports, PoE

- Able to read and write technical English

- Willing to work on client sites — retail stores, factories, warehouses, construction sites — and to travel within Bangladesh

Helpful, not required

- KiCad, EasyEDA or any PCB tool

- Experience with RFID, EAS, access control, CCTV or alarm systems

- C#/.NET, or any experience with a hardware manufacturer's SDK

- Reading AutoCAD or architectural drawings

- Bengali and English documentation

What matters more than any of the above

- You debug systematically instead of guessing

- You read the manual

- You are honest when something is not working, early rather than late

- You are careful with a system that handles real money and real client sites

What you will get out of it

Very few junior engineering jobs in Bangladesh cover this much ground. You will work on hardware, firmware, networks, live installations and production software in the same role, with the founder in the same room and real clients on the other end. Whatever you do next, you will have built things you can point to.

There is a formal salary and responsibility review at six months.

How to apply

Send your CV to [email protected] with the subject line Technical Engineer.

Include a short paragraph on one thing you have built — what it does, what you used, and what went wrong while you were building it. That paragraph is what we read first.
