• Diploma

• Diploma in Marine Engineering / Naval Architecture / Shipbuilding Engineering or relevant discipline or HSC in science with experience in relevant field and sound knowledge in Inland water transport operations in Bangladesh.

• Relevant training and affiliation in marine transport, ship management, or vessel operations (inland/coastal preferred).

• Relevant Marine Engineering Competency Certificates (Class IV / Engine Rating / equivalent) will be given preferences·

• Training on safety, fire fighting, survival, or marine operational courses will be an advantage.

• Docking, repair, and workshop practices will be given preferences.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following knowledge and experience:·      

• Marine machinery, inland navigation, and marine rules & regulations.

• Technical understanding of vessel operation, maintenance, and safety.

• Ability to supervise vessel staff and shore-based technical workers.

• Strong control over operational cost, inventory, and expenditure monitoring.

• Good communication, reporting, and coordination skills.

• Computer literacy (MS Office, basic reporting).

• Assist in technical management, operation, and maintenance of coaster/lighter vessels engaged in inland river transportation of bulk and bagged cargo.

• Support compliance with applicable marine rules, regulations, and international conventions relevant to inland and coastal operations.

• Monitor vessel machinery condition, routine maintenance, repair works, and breakdown troubleshooting.

• Coordinate workshop activities, dry docking, repair schedules, and technical inspections.

• Assist in managing vessel crews, technical staff, and operational manpower.

• Monitor and control vessel operational expenditure; prevent pilferage, misuse, and wastage of stores, fuel, and spares.

• Maintain technical records, certificates, logbooks, and statutory documentation of vessels.

• Handle survey, licensing, insurance, and statutory certificates; liaise with surveyors and inspectors during inspections.

• Coordinate with BIWTA, DG Shipping, BWTCC, local agents, Sadharan Bima Corporation, and other government offices.

• Support fleet management in sourcing marine operational manpower and liaising with repair yards, workshops, and suppliers.

• Ensure safe, efficient, and economical vessel operation as per company standards
