• 3–5 years of professional reporting experience, preferably with experience covering the relevant beat.
• Strong understanding of Bangladesh's current affairs, institutions and news environment.
• Proven ability to build and maintain reliable sources within the assigned beat.
• Strong news judgement and ability to identify stories of public interest.
• Excellent reporting, interviewing, fact-checking and research skills.
• Strong command of Bangla and good working proficiency in English.
• Experience or working knowledge of multimedia journalism, including video reporting, mobile journalism, social media storytelling and digital content production.
• Ability to adapt a single story for website, social media, video and other digital formats.
• Ability to work under deadline pressure in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the newsroom team.
• Familiarity with CMS platforms, social media publishing tools and basic digital analytics will be an advantage.

Key responsibilities

• Regularly cover the assigned beat and stay updated on important developments. Develop and maintain a strong network of reliable sources.
• Generate exclusive and original story ideas rather than relying only on scheduled events or press releases.
• Cover breaking news quickly while maintaining accuracy and proper verification.
• Conduct interviews with relevant officials, experts, stakeholders and other sources.
• Produce daily news reports as well as in-depth, follow-up and analytical stories.
• Verify facts, documents, statements and data before publication.
• Work closely with desk editors, photographers, video journalists and the multimedia team.
• Contribute to multimedia storytelling, including video reports, short-form video, live coverage, explainers and social media content when required.
• Be comfortable appearing on camera or providing voice-over for digital and social media content when necessary.
• Follow professional journalistic ethics and editorial standards.
• Be prepared for field assignments and work beyond regular office hours when major news events require coverage.
