Responsibilities & Context:

The Manager - IT is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and maintenance of all hospital technological infrastructures. This includes overseeing the Hospital Information System (HIS), ensuring 100% uptime for clinical and billing modules, safeguarding patient data privacy, and managing the IT technical support team.

A. Systems & Software Management:

  • Manage and optimize the Hospital Information System (HIS), including Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Pharmacy, Laboratory, and Billing modules.

  • Oversee the integration of medical equipment (e.g., Imaging/PACS) with the hospital software.

  • Coordinate with software vendors for updates, patches, and customization based on hospital needs.

B. Infrastructure & Security:

  • Maintain hospital-wide network connectivity (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi) to ensure doctors and staff have uninterrupted access to digital tools.

  • Implement robust Data Security protocols to protect sensitive patient information and hospital financial records.

  • Implement backup, recovery, performance, re-organizations and ensure security of the database.

  • Manage server administration, data backups, and disaster recovery planning.

  • Develop and enforce comprehensive IT Policies, including password management, data privacy (local standards), and acceptable use of hospital hardware.

C. Operational Support:

  • Ensure 100% uptime of HIS, EMR, and billing modules; manage vendor relations and software customizations.

  • Ensure 24/7 technical support for critical areas.

  • The role ensures uninterrupted IT operations to support clinical, administrative, and patient care services.

  • Lead the recruitment, training, and supervision of IT technicians and support staff.

  • Manage the procurement of IT hardware (PCs, Printers, Servers) and maintain an active inventory.

D. Strategic Planning:

  • Advise senior leadership on technology trends that can improve patient care and operational efficiency.

  • Prepare and manage the annual IT budget.
