Job Summary:

The Specialist - Import Logistics & Customs will be responsible for assisting with global import operations, ensuring compliance with local and international trade regulations, and managing the import process efficiently. This role requires effective coordination with overseas suppliers, logistics partners, and internal teams to ensure the timely and seamless flow of imported goods. The position will work closely with key stakeholders and government agencies such as Banks, Insurance Companies, Customs, C&F Agents, Freight Forwarders, BSTI, Explosive Department, MCCI, DCCI, CCI&E, NBR, BEZA, and other regulatory bodies to facilitate smooth import operations.

Job Description:

  • Assist in managing global Import & Export operations, ensuring compliance with local and international trade regulations.

  • Ensure that all imports comply with customs regulations, including accurate classification of goods, application of correct tariff codes, and payment of duties and taxes.

  • Liaise with overseas suppliers to confirm order details, shipping schedules, and delivery dates.

  • Track shipment schedules and monitor the movement of goods to ensure on-time arrivals.

  • Manage and control import costs, including transportation, customs duties, insurance, and storage fees.

  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate payment processing and cost forecasting.

  • Collaborate closely with purchasing, finance, production planners, and other internal teams to integrate imported goods smoothly into the supply chain.

  • Address delays, damages, or discrepancies during the shipment process, working with suppliers, carriers, and customs officials to resolve issues promptly.

  • Manage claims for lost, damaged, or delayed goods and ensure timely resolution with the supplier, carrier, or insurance provider.

  • Proactively manage and forecast potential disruptions to minimize supply interruptions for the assigned category.

  • Develop contingency plans to address unexpected issues in the import process.

  • Prepare regular reports as per local, regional, and global supply requirements.
