∎ The position will be based in Noakhali/ Barishal with frequent field visit to Solidaridad operational areas.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Small Business Support Officer is responsible for develop and conduct participatory market chain analysis for business opportunities covering vegetables and tea, scale appropriate mechanization, and agricultural inputs, outputs and services.
∎ S/he will undertake market business development activities for smallholder enterprise development and provides entrepreneurs decisions support for investments.
∎ The position will support in developing tea and vegetable business canvass to make sure that the smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs investment portfolios have solid financial flow of information for profit and loss.
∎ S/he will review how a business is functioning and make recommendations to help improve business operation under the project.
∎ The Small Business Support officer also will facilitate the access to finance process for the vegetables and tea producers entrepreneurs.
∎ Work with key project personnel to map the institutional landscape and identify key actors in the inputs like seed, fertilizers, technology, crop protection, machinery and output products etc. in the Tea and vegetables value chains.
∎ Examine value chains and identify opportunities to increase equity and representation among disadvantaged farmers groups, women, entrepreneurs and youth for their business development activities.
∎ Lead capacity building activities in terms of business development skills, business management, including the preparation and effective dissemination of high-quality training materials, recognizing that collection centers entrepreneurs, farmers group and lead farmers form a key and underserved target group.
∎ Implement and coordinate efforts to raise awareness about business support activities, products, and outcomes among stakeholders, partners, policymakers, and thel general farmers.
∎ Coordinate with project personnel, governmental partners, agrovets, farmer cooperatives and other relevant stakeholders to identify and develop champion farmers into entrepreneurs, lead farmers, CC owners and company representative and women farmers as key targets
∎ Work with input sector personnel as important actors in input supply chain and providing them and other stakeholders with technical backstopping as appropriate.
∎ Assist in coordinating and backstopping agricultural machinery service providers, agents, distributors manufacturers and other machinery stakeholders as appropriate.
∎ Coordinate events aimed at developing entrepreneurship among promising individuals, service providers or enterprises, market networking, establishing linkages, seed producer, output market-trader negotiations, exposure visits and other promotional activities.
∎ Identify market networks and outlets and innovative approaches to strengthen marketing systems and information networking and to reduce the length of value chains using options including the use of mobile phones/call etc.
∎ Liaise and coordinating with other relevant projects in the region to increase synergies and complementarities.
∎ Assisting in monitoring and evaluation and reporting efforts by providing quality input and reports in a timely manner (every 2-3 months as indicated by project lead).
∎ Following best practices in data collection, and in organizing, managing, storing, and archiving data in accordance with project and solidaridad norms.
∎ Developing business case and Calculating the economic benefit of the smallholder's farmers engaged under this project;
∎ Ensure commodity specific market trend analysis, price analysis and preparing report for management
∎ Work closely with entrepreneurs, private sector and academia to develop market focused programs under-pinned by solid business cases

Additional Requirements:
∎ Good understanding on the dynamics of vegetables tea production, procurement and processing;
∎ Superior knowledge on geographic and topographic context of the northern region, especially on the tea farmers and workers;
∎ Related expertise on relationship development, coordination and liaison;
∎ Experience on project management and reporting
∎ Experience in engaging private sectors, government and NGO stakeholders in one forum to establish sustainability agenda;
∎ Ability to conduct commodity based field insight report, i.e. data collection, analysis and reporting.
∎ Professional computer skills (MS office suite);
∎ A highly cooperative team player and ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks is desirable;

∎ Strong ability to communicate and function effectively in local/international/multicultural environment;
∎ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
