  • Strong proposal and report writing skills to support concept note and donor report preparation.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite for documentation and data handling.

  • Effective interpersonal and networking skills to engage with donors, partners, and multiple internal stakeholders.

  • Ability to capture learning, prepare visit/meeting reports, and contribute to knowledge-sharing outputs.

  • Event coordination and organisational skills to support exposure visits and resource mobilisation activities.

  • Understanding of Bangladesh’s development context, particularly poverty, livelihoods, and financial inclusion.

  • Familiarity with the donor landscape and fundraising cycle, including institutional donors, foundations, and corporates.

  • Knowledge of project design frameworks such as Theory of Change (ToC), Results Framework, and donor compliance requirements.

  • Awareness of safeguarding principles and gender mainstreaming standards.

  • Proactive, solution-oriented approach with critical and analytical thinking.

Experience Requirements

Job Purpose

Senior Specialist, Business Development will be responsible for strengthening the UPG programme’s Business Development function on resource mobilisation, grant management, partnership cultivation and stewardships and promoting community-driven livelihood initiatives. These will be in the form of contributing to high-quality proposals and progress report development, supporting donor engagement activities, contributing to funding lead generation, coordinating grant review meetings and identifying success stories for reporting. The role will also contribute to the growth and sustainability of the UPG programme by ensuring evidence-based, community-driven products, services, and livelihood initiatives are piloted, documented, and adapted for scale-up. This role directly supports in managing the programme’s ability to secure funding, maintain strong donor relationships and operationalise innovative and climate resilient solutions contributing to overall organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive identifying, assessing, and prioritising new funding opportunities across public, private, and multilateral sectors.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of donor engagement strategies to strengthen long-term partnerships.

  • Maintain proactive relationships with donors and partners by developing timely updates, responding to queries, and facilitating engagement opportunities.

  • Manage positioning the UPG programme within relevant funding and development networks to enhance visibility and credibility.

  • Contribute in key events, conferences, and forums to promote programme initiatives and resource mobilisation efforts.

  • Draft and consolidate concept notes, project proposals, and multi-programme submissions aligned with UPG objectives and donor requirements.

  • Drive drafting budgets, project narratives, and logical frameworks to ensure proposals are robust and compliant with donor guidelines.

  • Coordinate grant management process, including drafting progress reports, organisation of grant review meetings and field visits for verification and documentation.

  • Contribute in tracking grant deliverables, deadlines, and compliance requirements to ensure timely reporting and adherence to donor agreements.

  • Capture programme learning, lessons, and good practices from field and internal sources to inform proposals, reports, and programme improvements.

  • Promote innovation by integrating field insights, emerging practices, and contextual understanding into proposal development and programme design.

  • Support drafting mid-year, annual, and thematic reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Assist in organising exposure visits, immersions, and other platforms for knowledge sharing to enhance programme visibility and stakeholder engagement.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme`s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
