MBBS with three (03) years` experiences in relevant field.
Having part 1 /Phase A in FCPS/MD/MRCP will be highly preferred.
Job Context:
The Senior Medical Officer in the Neuro Medicine Department plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based neurological care. This position requires clinical excellence, strong coordination skills, a commitment to ethical practice, and active involvement in education and quality initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
Clinical Assessment & Patient Management
Perform comprehensive neurological assessments, including detailed history-taking and physical examinations, within 24 hours of patient admission.
Collaborate closely with consultants to establish accurate diagnoses and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
Order, authorize, and evaluate diagnostic investigations such as neuroimaging (MRI, CT scans), EEG, and relevant laboratory tests.
Initiate, adjust, and monitor pharmacological treatments based on patient response and clinical findings
Inpatient Care & Ward Management
Conduct daily ward rounds in conjunction with consultants, ensuring proper documentation of clinical progress, vitals, and treatment adjustments.
Provide continuous monitoring and timely intervention for patients with acute neurological conditions (e.g., stroke, seizures, encephalopathy).
Ensure seamless coordination among multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care.
Procedures & On-Call Responsibilities
Perform routine procedures such as NG tube insertion, wound suturing, lumbar puncture, and catheterization under consultant supervision.
Provide on-call support for neurological emergencies and respond promptly to critical situations.
Assist consultants in conducting complex neurological procedures or interventions.
Administrative Duties & Departmental Coordination
Supervise patient admission processes, discharge planning, and preparation of discharge summaries.
Manage departmental logistics: patient scheduling, registration, and recordkeeping in the absence of the consultant/Specialist/Registrar.
Participate in monthly departmental clinical planning; prepare clinical and financial activity reports as needed.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date medical records, including case sheets, progress notes, and investigation reports.
Ensure strict compliance with hospital protocols, infection control measures, and ethical standards.
Report adverse events, medication errors, or clinical incidents in accordance with hospital policy.
Training & Quality Improvement
Participate actively in clinical case reviews, seminars, morbidity & mortality meetings, and departmental audits.
Mentor and support junior doctors, providing guidance during clinical rounds and minor procedures.
Engage in continuous professional development by attending workshops, journal clubs, and training sessions.
Contribute to hospital-wide quality assurance and patient safety initiatives.
