Job Context:
∎ JOB PURPOSE: The Senior Manager: Advocacy & Policy Affairs will become the FFB expert on policy and regulatory issues involving agricultural biotechnology and incorporate policy issues into the FFB activities, including training programs, communication, and outreach events. The Senior Manager: Advocacy & Policy Affairs will be responsible for driving the organization`s policy agenda of helping the Bangladesh government establish an enabling regulatory environment for the adoption of agricultural biotechnology innovations. S/he will develop a strategic plan to advocate for changes in the Bangladesh biosafety regulatory system and work with key stakeholders and relevant ministries and departments of the Government of Bangladesh to carry out policy activities. The Senior Manager will be responsible for building capacity and training on Bangladesh biosafety regulatory system with stakeholders, government officials, and domestic and international partners. The candidate will have a strong foundation and understanding of how the Bangladesh government establishes policy and regulatory oversight systems in the agriculture, environment, climate change, and/or food and nutrition areas. The position holder will be responsible to lead policy and regulatory affairs with national and regional partners.
∎ Contract Type: One-year fixed term with the possibility of extension.
∎ Reports To: Executive Director

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Senior Manager: Advocacy & Policy Affairs will be responsible for developing FFB's policy and regulatory affairs' strategy in accordance with the program's priority of helping Bangladesh achieve an enabling policy environment for the responsible use of agricultural biotechnology

∎ Work closely with the Advisor/Assistant Director: Advocacy and Policy Affairs and staff member at FFB and Alliance for Science to support the development and implementation of policy and regulatory affairs in Bangladesh.
∎ Proactively initiate policy and regulatory activities, lead the pursuit of these activities in collaboration with global and country office-based staff.
∎ Establish functional policy and regulatory affairs network, work as the secretariat of the policy advocacy network.
∎ Collaborate extensively across programmatic and functional teams at FFB to deliver strategic goals and share lessons across teams and contexts.
∎ Learn and fully comprehend the policy and regulatory environment in Bangladesh for biotechnology and biosafety and become an expert on its operation.
∎ Research, study, and analyze the policy and regulatory issues in Bangladesh and draft reports, policy briefs, and fact statements about the subject for use by FFB and its partners
∎ Develop and implement policy and regulatory affairs training modules, build the capacity of partners and stakeholders.
∎ Conceptualize and support the generation of evidence that contributes to FFB's advocacy objectives at national and global levels
∎ Prepare different documents, donor reports, and donor responses in coordination with Advisor and AFS global policy team

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 10 years of experience in the relevant field specifically in advocacy, policy, and regulatory affairs-related work in Bangladesh. Knowledge and experience working on policy issues in the fields of agriculture, food, nutrition, environment, and/or climate change are preferred.
∎ Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to analyze and understand complex research issues.
∎ Computer literacy for data management, word processing, spreadsheet, and statistical data analysis
∎ Skill in PowerPoint presentation and internet proficiency
∎ Sufficient knowledge about accounting and NBR regulation of Bangladesh

Salary: Tk. 120000 - 145000 (Monthly)
