Job Context:
∎ HKI Bangladesh, in partnership with Save the Children in Bangladesh, International Development Enterprises, WorldFish, and the International Centre for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh, is launching a new project, "Suchana", in the Sylhet and Moulvibazar districts of Sylhet Division. The aim of the project is to reduce undernutrition leading to stunting in children under 2 years of age (CU2) living within 250,000 very poor households with women of reproductive age (15 - 45 years). The Suchana project is co-funded by the European Union under a delegated cooperation agreement with DFID/UKAID. The project is being implemented as a collaborative partnership between the consortium members.

∎ HKI is seeking qualified candidates for the following field-based position.
∎ Title : Senior Gender Specialist (1 position)

∎ Reporting to : Project Manager and Director, Nutrition
∎ Scope of Responsibilities:
∎ Under the Supervision of the Project Manager the Sr. Gender Specialist is responsible for providing strategical/technical support to all gender-related activities within the Suchana project. S/he will work closely with the Project Manager and Nutrition Director and facilitators to ensure effective, timely and quality implementation of gender activities, while applying gender equality principles into all activities. S/he will assist the Project Manager in the planning, implementation and follow-up of gender-related activities such as gender integration, awareness training sessions and the roll-out of the integrated gender with different curriculum.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ To ensure that the gender activities of Suchana project are implemented with the maximum efficiency and professionalism, in order to bring about positive change in the lives of the beneficiaries. Activities include but are not limited to:
∎ Lead the development of gender integration, related training materials and messages to be used in the program activities.
∎ Conduct gender-awareness training to field facilitators, partner organizations and GoB staff as required.
∎ Conduct specific gender trainings within the Suchana project as required.
∎ Collaborate with the other Gender Specialists and with Technical Officers, implementing partners in providing technical support and follow-up for facilitators who will be conducting training sessions in the field;
∎ Monitor the quality of both stakeholders and community sessions, as well as the overall performance of the facilitators, with the aim of ensuring maximum quality of the program implementation in the field.
∎ Assist with monitoring and evaluation of gender-related activities as per the projects' M&E plan.
∎ Develop timely reports on gender activities to the Project Manager and Nutrition Director as required.
∎ Maintain regular contact with both HKI and partner organizations on the implementation of activities.
∎ Collaborate in the INGOs Gender Working Group, Feed the Future Gender Cluster Group and any other networking initiatives as required.
∎ Lead the Suchana Gender Working and advisory group on quarterly basis or as required.
∎ Facilitate effective coordination among consortium/coalition partners there by ensuring smooth implementation of activities by leading and managing the coordination meetings and program review workshops.
∎ In relation, build and maintain relationships with the relevant Government department of Bangladesh by involving them in the program development process and keeping them updated on progress.
∎ Represent HKI in consortium meetings, seminars and workshops with government officials at local and national level, donor agencies and any national technical advisory groups;
∎ Maintain up-to-date information on all financial aspects of programs with the Project Manager and Finance Section;
∎ Promote and managing partnership with National, International, UN Organizations and respective Department and Ministry of GOB.
∎ Assist in proposals development for HKI and in research for gender-related topics as needed.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 4-5 years in participatory program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation within a development organization or local non-governmental organization (NGOs).
∎ Experience with gender, nutrition, food security or livelihood activities.
∎ Experience working with local NGOs and Government of Bangladesh.
∎ Experience involving community stakeholder groups, community volunteers and beneficiaries in project activities.
∎ A team player with excellent interpersonal communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English and Bengali.
∎ Fundamental understanding of gender.
∎ Willingness to travel to field sites as required.
