∎ Terminal degree (PhD) in Public Health, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or Statistics is preferred but persons with a relevant Master's degree and other relevant work experience will be considered.

Job Context:

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Planning and design:

∎ Lead project staff and government partners to create work-plans to meet analysis needs of NIPN;
∎ Oversee the central NIPN database of key indicators for food security and nutrition;
∎ Keep abreast of key research in NIPN's topical areas
∎ Manage knowledge generate by NIPN and other stakeholders, facilitating knowledge-sharing between the consortium, governemtn partners, and the greater community of stakeholders
∎ Seek out and follow up on opportunities for special research that enhance the visibility of NIPN's research expertise.
∎ Data management and analysis:
∎ Oversee and assist in the preparation of syntax for data cleaning and analysis, creating systems through which data can be cleaned and managed efficiently
∎ Archive datasets.
∎ Oversee the analysis of NIPN data and prepared reports, bulletins, and scientific articles under the direction of the NIPN Directors. This includes responsibilities to prepare abstracts for presentation to relevant conferences.
∎ Guide the preparation of guidelines for data storage and use in consulation with government partners
∎ Provide technical advice on methods to merge or create new data sets and supervise staff to do so
∎ Capacity building:
∎ Assess the capacity of staff ministries and identify their needs for training in data management and data analysis
∎ Work one-on-one with government staff to co-create policy relavant research while building skills
∎ Lead in the deveolpment and faciliateion of trainings and analysis workshops
∎ Review training manuals and how-to guides for routine statistical tasks
∎ Keep informed about developments and resources for the M&E community worldwide and develop and facilitate workshops and training courses for staff of the national nutrition programme, ministries and partners to develop and apply tools, processes and best practices to develop a culture of high quality, evidence-based programming and learning.
∎ Contribute to learning activities within the NIPN by supporting the work of other staff on analytical work requested by the Policy Advisory Committee.
∎ Contribute to the collection and analysis of lessons learnt and best practices from nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive programmes, nationally and internationally by reviewing literature and collating and synthesizing information
∎ Train staff from government ministries on how to analyze data using statistical software and best methods and practices
∎ Train staff, both informally on the job, and formally through training courses, perhaps arranged with staff of national policy institutions or a university or with international consultants
∎ Reporting and monitoring support:
∎ With support from nutritionists and sector experts guide the collection, analysis, and synthesis of background and contextual information on nutrition in Bangladesh and internationally, based on questions posed by the NIPN Policy Advisory Committee
∎ Contribute to national monitoring and evaluation systems for nutrition by providing technical expertise, advice and support to relavant government instiitutions for monitoring and evaluating nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive programmes and identify data that could be used by the NIPN for analytical purposes.
∎ Work with staff of ministries and organisations involved in the NIPN to identify the lessons learned from projects, programmes and interventions that could inform the information platform and efforts to improve nutrition.
∎ Provide technical advice and support to design and implement monitoring and evaluation systems developed for the national nutrition programme and by ministries that are designed to lead to improved nutritional outcomes, including the description of specific methods and tools and the identification of strengths and weaknesses in existing data collection and management systems.
∎ Participate in the NIPN community of practice to share experiences with other NIPN countries.
∎ Lead quantitative and qualitative monitoring, evaluation and assessment of NIPN activities and outputs. Contribute to annual project reporting to donors and national stakeholders.
∎ Produce reports/manscripts that document the anlayiss undertaken
∎ Prepare presentatoins to highlight NIPN findings
∎ Represent NIPN at national and international fora.
∎ Support government and project staff to produce high quality analytical reports.
∎ Liaise with the Global Support Facility for NiPNs to identify additional support needed including specialized materials, software, technical advice and consultants.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Open to Bangladeshi and non-Bangladeshi candidates
∎ At least 5 years of relevant experience
∎ Should have excellent interpersonal communication skills
∎ Advanced statistical analysis skills, experience with Stata is preferred.
∎ Must have experience with data management
∎ Must have have good communication skills in English; Skills in Bangla are a plus
∎ Documented history of publication both thorugh peer review and grey literature

On September 30, 2015, USAID`s Office of Food for Peace (FFP) awarded HKI a five-year cooperative agreement to lead the `Sustainable Agriculture and Production Linked to Improved Nutrition Status, Resilience, and Gender Equity` (SAPLING) program with the overall goal of improving gender equitable food security, nutrition and resilience of vulnerable people within five upazilas of the Bandarban District of CHT. To achieve this objective, HKI is working in partnership with CRS, CARITAS Bangladesh, five local implementing partners, individuals, communities, traditional institutions and the Government of Bangladesh to affect enduring positive change by addressing immediate needs while investing in the future of food security and resilience.
