Job Context
  • ESDO is an organization dedicated to environmental action research aimed at creating a just, toxic-free, and zero-waste world. ESDO focuses on transitioning from a linear, extractive economy to a circular system that upholds people's right to a secure and sustainable environment. This approach addresses pollution and fosters regenerative solutions in urban areas through various means, including campaigns, policy changes, financial assistance, research, communication, and mobilization. Our primary intervention areas include plastics, zero waste, incineration, pollution, chemicals, and climate issues.

  • The ESDO Project team is seeking a Research and Advocacy Associate to assist with collaboration between national and international organizations, support ESDO’s initiatives, manage priority policy areas, communicate policy questions to diverse audiences, and coordinate national and international logistics. The ideal candidate will have experience in multicultural environments, a strong commitment to social and environmental justice, and a self-motivated work ethic.

Job Responsibilities
  • Organizing policy and research discussions in national and regional spaces to identify and respond to threats and opportunities through collaborative campaigning

  • Facilitate coordination spaces (calls, email lists, chats) and set up and maintain coordination tools (shared documents and folders)

  • Provide support (such as research, policy advice, and connections to experts) to organizations intervening in national and regional policy processes (as needed, based on availability and prioritization with ESDO National & Global Policy Work)

  • Assist waste trade and other plastics policy work with ESDO colleagues and partners in different

  • regions.

  • Engage with various knowledge and learning networks within ESDO partners, working closely with relevant organizational learning initiatives to better coordinate activities.

  • Actively participate in the national and regional community of practice focused on assigned project activities.

  • Help showcase project impact through media articles, blog posts and other engagement methods with a target audience of stakeholders in the donor community.

  • Help develop high-quality project outreach materials such as brochures, multi-media presentations, photographs and video snippets.
