Additional Requirements:
  • Age 25 to 40 years

Education: Diploma in Optometry or Refraction Technology from a recognized institute.

Experience: At least 3 years of proven experience in a clinical or hospital setting (experience in OT support is highly preferred).

Technical Skills: 

  • Proficiency in manual retinoscopy and IOL power calculation.

  • Knowledge of common ocular diseases and emergency eye care.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills in Bengali; proficiency in the local dialect of Thakurgaon is an advantage.

  • Patience and empathy when dealing with elderly patients and children.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements.



Responsibilities & Context:

Key Responsibilities

1. Outpatient Department (OPD) Services

  • Vision Testing: Perform visual acuity tests (near and distance) for all patients using Snellen charts and other diagnostic tools.

  • Refraction: Conduct objective and subjective refraction (retinoscopy and autorefraction) to determine precise spectacle prescriptions.

  • Specialized Testing: Perform specialized diagnostic tests, including biometry (A-scan), keratometry, and applanation tonometry as required.

  • Patient Counseling: Advise patients on the use of corrective lenses, contact lenses, and low-vision aids.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed electronic or manual medical records for all patients examined.

2. Operation Theater (OT) Support

  • Pre-operative Prep: Assist in pre-operative measurements (IOL power calculation) and patient preparation for cataract and other eye surgeries.

  • Surgical Assistance: Provide technical support to the ophthalmic surgeon during procedures, ensuring all necessary diagnostic data is available.

  • Sterilization Oversight: Ensure that refraction-related equipment used in the OT environment is properly maintained and sterilized according to hospital protocols.


3. Equipment Management

  • Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment such as Autorefractors, Slit Lamps, Lensometers, and Phoropters.

  • Report any technical malfunctions to the administration promptly to ensure minimal disruption to services.
