Qualifications and Skills

• Licensing and Certification: Completion of a residency in Diagnostic Radiology and certification by a relevant medical board. An active state medical license is required.
• Specialization (Preferred): Additional fellowship training in a subspecialty such as neuroradiology, interventional radiology, or breast imaging is highly desirable.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of post-residency experience is preferred, particularly for senior or specialized roles.
• Analytical skills: Exceptional diagnostic and analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail for interpreting complex medical images.
• Technical expertise: Proficiency with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), RIS (Radiology Information System), and various diagnostic imaging modalities.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively report findings, consult with colleagues, and interact with patients.
• Interpersonal skills: Empathy and a compassionate demeanor when communicating with patients, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Leadership: Ability to lead and train other staff members and participate in multidisciplinary team discussions.

Job Summary

The Radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries using various medical imaging techniques, such as X-rays, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. The radiologist interprets imaging results, consults with referring physicians, and performs image-guided procedures to provide critical information for patient diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Image interpretation: Analyze and interpret a wide range of diagnostic imaging studies, including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and mammograms, to diagnose and identify abnormalities or injuries.
• Reporting: Compile comprehensive and accurate reports on findings and diagnoses, ensuring clarity and timeliness for referring physicians.
• Consultation: Collaborate with other medical professionals, including surgeons and oncologists, to discuss imaging results and contribute to overall patient management and treatment planning.
• Procedure execution: Perform or supervise image-guided diagnostic procedures, such as biopsies, drain placements, and other minimally invasive techniques.
• Patient care: Interact with patients to review medical history, answer questions, and explain procedures in a clear and empathetic manner.
• Quality assurance: Oversee and implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of medical imaging equipment and processes, following all regulatory standards.
• Supervision: Provide guidance and supervision to radiologic technologists, residents, and other junior staff on proper imaging techniques and departmental best practices.
• Research and development: Stay current with advancements in imaging technology and radiology practices through ongoing professional development and participation in research initiatives.
