Responsibilities & Context:
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating nursing services across assigned units to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered care. The incumbent oversees nursing staff, ensures compliance with hospital policies and nursing standards, manages staffing requirements, and supports quality improvement initiatives while maintaining excellent patient satisfaction.
Supervise daily nursing activities within assigned departments.
Ensure quality nursing care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing standards.
Monitor patient safety and infection prevention practices.
Conduct regular ward rounds to assess patient care quality.
Ensure proper documentation of nursing records.
Supervise Senior Staff Nurses, Staff Nurses, and Nursing Assistants.
Prepare and monitor duty rosters in coordination with the Matron.
Ensure adequate staffing for each shift.
Monitor attendance, punctuality, and discipline.
Assist in resolving staffing issues and workplace conflicts.
Ensure timely admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
Respond promptly to patient complaints and service recovery issues.
Monitor patient satisfaction and coordinate corrective actions.
Ensure continuity of nursing care during shift changes.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SOPs, and nursing protocols.
Monitor Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) practices.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
Ensure medication safety and adherence to patient safety goals.
Prepare incident reports and participate in investigations when required.
Conduct orientation for newly joined nursing staff.
Identify training needs and coordinate in-service education programs.
Mentor junior nurses and support professional development.
Conduct competency assessments and practical evaluations.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly nursing reports.
Maintain nursing records and departmental documentation.
Coordinate with doctors and other departments for smooth patient care.
Monitor the availability of nursing equipment and supplies.
Report operational issues to the Matron promptly.
Coordinate nursing response during emergencies and disasters.
Ensure emergency equipment and crash carts are ready for use.
Lead nursing teams during emergency situations when assigned.
Maintain effective communication with consultants, physicians, allied health professionals, patients, and attendants.
Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments.
Attend departmental meetings and quality review sessions.
