Job Context:
∎ DRCS, under its Population Movement Operation (PMO), has been providing humanitarian services since 2017 for the displaced Rohingya people from Rakhine state of Myanmar who have been sheltered in different camps under Ukhiya and Teknaf of Cox`s Bazar. Currently BDRCS is looking for a suitable Bangladeshi national for the position under PMO, Cox`s Bazar:
∎ Contract period: Up to December 2022.
∎ Department: Health & PSS.
∎ Reporting line: Health & PSS Manager through Sr. PSS Officer.
∎ Duty station: PMO office & Ukhiya, Cox`s Bazar.
∎ The PSS Officer will support the planning and implementation of day-to-day PSS activities as guided by Sr. PSS officer in PMO at field level and in PMO level. S/he will be responsible for training coaching, mentoring, and supervising of PSS assistant officers and volunteers that are delivering PSS services to the people in the camp and host communities.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide overall technical support to staff and volunteers in the planning and implementation of PSS activities in the community safe spaces, BDRCS Field Hospital, Primary Health Care centers and Health posts.
∎ Organize and conduct training of staff and volunteers on PSS and Psychological First Aid with the technical support of Sr PSS officer and MHPSS project Manager.
∎ Adapt and roll out PSS materials, tools and messages needed for the delivery of PSS services
∎ Support basic MHPSS assessments in camp and host community level as needed.
∎ Coach, mentor and supervise PSS staff and volunteers in the facilitation of PSS sessions and provision of basic and focused PSS services.
∎ Support the provision of basic MHPSS services in the BDRCS Field Hospital, Primary Health Care centers and Health Posts based on approved plans.
∎ Provide PFA to frontline staff and volunteers in need of support including pre and post disaster response briefing
∎ Support the Integration of basic PSS services in other PMO sectors CEA, PGI, DRR, WASH, Shelter and Relief
∎ Attend relevant meetings with MHPSS WG and other technical groups at field and Cox's Bazar level.
∎ Compile and submit quality and timely PSS reports (narrative and financial) based on the reporting schedule in PMO
∎ Conduct regular monitoring and supportive supervision visits, of PSS field activities.
∎ Prepared weekly plans for all activities to be carried out in the field
∎ Work with volunteers to facilitate PSS sessions for children, adolescents, and adults in the community safe spaces at camp level
∎ Organizes and facilitates community and parent and caregivers' meetings
∎ Roll out systems for referrals of severe mental Health conditions to specialized services
∎ Collect, summarize, and manage data on all PSS activities based on the agreed reporting schedule.
∎ Organize regular meetings with BDRCS and community volunteers to review and plan for the PSS activities at field level.
∎ Participate in relevant PSS program meetings, activities and events organized at field and Cox's Bazar.
∎ Perform any other assignment/tasks as and when given and required by your line managers
Additional Requirements:
∎ A minimum of 2 years of practical field experience of implementing community based psychosocial support interventions in Bangladesh.
∎ Basic training in psychosocial support/psychological first aid/ protection/ community mobilization/ SGBV
∎ Fluent in oral and written English and Bangla (Chittagongian dialect preferred)
∎ Good communication and facilitation skills.
∎ Ability to work and stay at field level.
∎ A team player, flexible and innovative
∎ Must be computer literate.
∎ Age Limit: 40 years (may be relaxed for potential candidates)
