Educational Requirements:
∎ Master of Science (MSc) in Psychology, Master of Social Science (MSS) in Sociology
∎ Any certified course related to the job is advantageous, with special consideration given to ECD-related experience and training.
∎ Skills Required: Child Protection, Communication skill, Counseling

Job Context:
∎ Samaj Kallayan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS) envisions a peaceful, prosperous, and poverty-free society that ensures everyone`s basic needs and rights. SKUS has, since the 2017 Rohingya refugee influx, worked in Cox`s Bazar district with children, adolescents, women, and men. Based on children`s, adolescents`, women`s, and human rights. SKUS has established quality learning and protection centers with support from different international donors, including UN agencies.

∎ SKUS is implementing the "Safeguarding women`s and Children`s Rights in the Rohingya Refugee Crisis in Ukhiya Sub-district in Bangladesh" project with the support of KNH-Germany- BMZ. The project aims to improve the well-being of women, children, and adolescents of refugee camps and the host community. The project also aims to secure their livelihoods and improve their ability to organize themselves.

∎ SKUS is looking for a suitable candidate for PSS Counselor`s immediate appointment for the project as mentioned above, supported by KNH-Germany and BMZ.
∎ Contract Period : Initially April 2021 to March 2020, with funds secured up to August 2024

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Assessment of the needs of the target groups, disaggregated by age and gender
∎ Building homogeneous groups of affected persons based on similar problems or characteristics of the persons concerned for group therapies
∎ Development of an action plan with PSS activities, themes, and other types of interventions
∎ Implementation of interventions at regular intervals
∎ Evaluation of the sessions with the participants and with the psychologist.
∎ Ensuring the protection of children and women in all activities
∎ Documentation of all feedback and preparation of regular monitoring and progress reports.
∎ Provide Psychological Support activities targeting children, adolescents, and their caregivers.
∎ In charge of developing, delivering, and monitoring outdoor and indoor recreational activities.
∎ Carry out PSS activities using specific methodologies to support the beneficiaries' need and resilience.
∎ Report regularly to the MHPSS Manager about the activities conducted.
∎ In dealing with challenging behaviors (conflict, aggressiveness, introversion), attempt to understand the behavior from a psychosocial perspective and create an intervention plan to assist the beneficiary in dealing with the situation in consultation with the psychologist.
∎ Monitor children's psychological wellbeing.
∎ Identify vulnerable children, provide necessary urgent PSS and refer cases to the protection departments.
∎ Refer children in need of specific mental health services and report to the MHPSS Manager.
∎ Identify gaps and staff training needs. Prepare training curriculum and conduct training as well as refresher course and follow up supervision.
∎ Any other task relevant to the position and other official tasks, as and when required, for the greater interest of the project/organization.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 25 to 45 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Working Condition:
∎ The PSS Counselor is based on the Project Office at the Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar district.
∎ Will spend approximately 70% of his/her time in the field.
∎ May have contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals.
∎ Have to work to ensure a conducive participatory approach in their work.

∎ Additional Requirements :
∎ Practical field experience in safeguarding women and children's protection, psychosocial programming in emergency or development context.
∎ A clear concept related to the Safeguarding policy and PSEA is required.
∎ Strong knowledge of child protection, Gender, GBV, PFA, MHPSS issues & Basic counseling skills, IASC MHPSS guidelines.
∎ Practical experience in training and facilitation of the group.
∎ Experience in conducting field-based baseline assessments.
∎ Advanced knowledge of written English is required, strong computer skills, including Microsoft office

Salary:
∎ Tk. 63000 (Monthly)
∎ Negotiable based on qualification and experience
