Job Context:
∎ Samaj Kallayan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS) envisions a peaceful, prosperous, and poverty-free society that ensures everyone`s basic needs and rights. SKUS has, since the 2017 Rohingya refugee influx, worked in Cox`s Bazar district with children, adolescents, women, and men. Based on children`s, adolescents`, women`s, and human rights. SKUS has established quality learning and protection centers with support from different international donors, including UN agencies.

∎ SKUS is implementing the "Safeguarding women`s and Children`s Rights in the Rohingya Refugee Crisis in Ukhiya Sub-district in Bangladesh" project with the support of KNH-Germany and BMZ. The project aims to improve the well-being of women, children, and adolescents of refugee camps and the host community. The project also aims to secure their livelihoods and improve their ability to organize themselves.

∎ SKUS is looking for a suitable candidate for the immediate appointment of Protection Officer for the project as mentioned above, supported by KNH-Germany and BMZ.
∎ Contract Period : Initially April 2021 to March 2020, with funds secured up to August 2024

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Promnote child rights and provide child protection services to the Rohingya and Bangladeshi Children
∎ Ensure child protection-case management services to the vulnerable children in line with the UN-coordinated standard operating procedure for case management in the Rohingya Refugee Crisis Response.
∎ Collecting data and analysis of the protection visit cases.
∎ Making frequent field visits, mostly to refugees to assess and review their situation.
∎ Implementing activities in the camps; planning, preparing resources, and monitoring activities
∎ Identify, refer and follow-up survivors of abuses and extremely vulnerable individuals.
∎ Coordinating with other international and national agencies; informal meetings as well as maintaining daily field coordination.
∎ Coordinating with government agencies; RRRC, Union office officials, police, military, and line ministry representatives on the ground.

∎ Liaising with and making referrals to other agencies.
∎ Support technical team to settle committees or any other community association.
∎ Mobilize the targeted communities and create awareness about protection risks and activities.
∎ Listen to complaints and protection concerns expressed by different groups of the communities.
∎ Identify methods and programs; make recommendations on how to fill gaps.
∎ Provide technical guidance and direction for effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of agreed child protection plans including psychosocial recovery and assistance to vulnerable children and their families.
∎ Preparing monthly reports to Child Protection Manager and Project Coordinator. Contribute documentation to project reports including photographs and video.
∎ Participate in relevant meetings and working groups, training.
∎ Perform any other duties as agreed and required by the Child Protection Manager and Coordinator.
∎ Perform other official tasks, as and when required, for the greater interest of the project/organization.
∎ Follow and maintain the disciplines properly as mentioned in the HR Policies & Procedures of SKUS.
∎ Work in the true spirit of teamwork, preserve personal integrity, and respect the organizational hierarchy of accountability.

∎ Age 25 to 45 years

∎ Working Condition :
∎ The Protection Officer is based on the Project Office at the Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar district.
∎ She or he will spend approximately 80% of his/her time in the field.
∎ May have contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals.
∎ Must work to ensure a conducive participatory approach in the host community and camp.

∎ Experience in technical support related to conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and related work on gender equality, women participation, and leadership in a developing country context.
∎ Understanding of issues and challenges related to conflict, democracy, ethnic and religious tolerance.
∎ Excellent communication and social skills and the ability to work closely with various stakeholders.
∎ Ability to work independently as well as with multiple stakeholders in a time-pressured environment.
∎ Training facilitation skills.

∎ Additional Requirements
∎ Practical field experience in safeguarding women and children's protection, psychosocial programming in emergency or development context.
∎ A clear concept related to the Safeguarding policy and PSEA is required.
∎ Strong knowledge of child rights, child protection, gender, GBV, PFA, MHPSS issues.
∎ Practical experience in training and group facilitation.
∎ Experience in conducting field-based baseline assessments.
∎ Good computer skills, including Microsoft office.

∎ Tk. 63000 (Monthly)
