∎ Graduate degree in Agriculture/ Agribusiness/ Marketing or Diploma in Agriculture with substantial experience is required;

Job Context:
∎ Type of Contract: Full time and regular position of the project; Initially for one year
∎ Location of Posting: Any district/sub-district in North Bengal
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Project Officer will be responsible for implementing planned field activities, maintain liaison with partners and project team in coordination with Field Coordinator.
∎ Plan, coordinate and implement all sorts of project activities to ensure commercial pilot weather index crop insurance;
∎ Conduct training sessions and farmer meetings with farmers group of partner beneficiaries;
∎ Monitor day-to-day operations of project and its planned activities;
∎ Monitoring weather data to track the process of weather index insurance, and maintain automated weather stations (AWS);
∎ Conduct dry run, FGD, and data collection from different sources;
∎ Work closely with the respective staffs of partner organization, farmers and farmers group members, local government extension agents and other stakeholders;
∎ Prepare project documents at regular basis;
∎ Any other specific areas of responsibilities shall be assigned by field coordinator;
∎ S/he will be reportable to the Field Coordinator of Surokkha and work under close coordination with team, project manager and field office management.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At-least 2 years of working experience with agriculture or marketing or market development projects with any renowned NGOs, companies or donor projects;
∎ Experience and skills in functioning of farmers groups, conducting need based training for farmers, follow up and technical supports to the farmers in crop production and climate change adaptation in crops;
∎ Proven skills in dealing with farmers groups, lead farmers, partner staffs;
∎ Experience in collecting field data and prepare project documents;
∎ Basic computer skills in MS Office, MS Excel and emailing;
∎ Good written and oral communication skills in English and Bangla;
∎ Excellent Interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team; and maintain the targets and deadlines.
∎ Ability and willingness to drive motorcycle and must have a valid driving license.
