Responsibilities & Context:

Good Neighbors (1991) is an international humanitarian, development and non-governmental organization with membership in General Consultative Status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). Winner of MDG 2 award 2007 and UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development 2024, Good Neighbors Bangladesh (GNB) is operating 17 Community Development Projects (CDP) in 13 districts for child protection, education, health, women empowerment, income generating activities, DRR and Rohingya emergency response activities. Good Neighbors Bangladesh (GNB) intends to recruit suitable personnel for the following positions:

Key Position Information

Location Shyamnagar: Upazila-Sathkhira District (Poddo Pukur & Koikhali Union)

Project Name: Stronger Together : Community Resilience through Inclusive Approach Project

Project Location: Shyamnagar Upazila-Sathkhira District (Poddo Pukur & Koikhali Union)

Project Duration: 3 years (subject to availability of funds and donor confirmation)

Employment Contract: 05-month contract for the Project Engineer position

Job Assignment in Brief:

  • Prepare designs, drawings, specifications, construction methodologies, work plans, schedules, and progress trackers, and be capable of handling the full construction cycle.

  • Preparation of construction and tender documents (auto cad design -3D), technical specifications, BOQ, equipment/furniture lists, etc.) and support permit-related documentation.

  • Prepare Tender processes, participate in the technical evaluation of bids, and provide recommendations considering compliance with environmental, social, and regulatory standards.

  • Prepare and facilitate contract agreement signing; review contract conditions, rates, and compliance requirements.

  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, ensure completion within agreed timelines, conduct risk assessments, and implement mitigation strategies for construction delays or technical issues.

  • Verify measurements and certify contractor payments based on work progress; maintain payment and site records.

  • Ensure site safety and security, quality of materials, proper curing and maintenance, proper disposal of construction waste, monitor budget utilization, and support cost-control measures.

  • Maintain strong coordination with vendors, contractors, communities, local government authorities; facilitate community engagement, address beneficiary feedback, and prepare periodic progress, technical, and completion reports for management and donors.

  • Support capacity-building and orientation sessions for contractors, site staff, and stakeholders.

  • Liaise with local government and technical personnel; support MoU signing and stakeholder coordination.

  • Control material wastage during work-in-progress activities and provide technical inputs and data for donor and authority reporting.

  • Ensure inclusion, accessibility, and child-friendly considerations in construction design and implementation.

  • Oversee the handover process, including final inspections, snag list resolution, and maintaining proper documentation and archiving of all project-related records.

Capacity Requirement:

  • Proven ability to manage construction/renovation works independently and deliver within deadline and quality standards.

  • Strong skills in BOQ preparation, cost estimation, material specification, and construction scheduling.

  • Practical experience in site supervision, contractor management, measurement/verification, and quality assurance (QA/QC).

  • Sound understanding of construction safety, work planning, and compliance with organizational procedures.

  • Good command of MS Office; ability to prepare clear technical reports in English & Bangla (speaking/writing).

  • Strong coordination and communication skills to work with vendors/contractors, community stakeholders, and Head Office.

  • Strong documentation discipline: able to maintain evidence files (work completion records, photos, site notes, measurement sheets).

  • Commitment to organizational values, safeguarding/child protection standards, and professional conduct in field settings.



Job Other Benifits:
