Job Context:
∎ Nazrul Smriti Sangsad-NSS is a non-government humanitarian organization working for the advancement of the poor, women, children, minority group, excluded people and person with disability since 2000. NSS is a non-profitable, non-political, child and gender sensitive organization. It always values all diversified people without discriminating religions, casts, creeds and suppresses all sorts of discrimination with ethnic and minority people. It also values class and levels of team members as well as beneficiaries.
∎ The organization is going to implement a project titled "The Youth Environmental Stewardship for Eco-Friendly Communities (YES4ECO) in three climate vulnerable communities of one sub-district in Barguna, namely Amtali Upazila through three adolescent and youth led Climate Change Adaptation and Environmental Stewardship group/clubs. Building on international pledges for Children, Youth and Climate Action and taking a rights-based approach. The project will educate and strengthen these clubs by supplementing training and learning sharing engaging community-based participatory social research. They will be equipped with the concepts, capacity, connections, and leadership confidence to mobilize their communities to roll out a plan of `Environmentally sensitive and Climate smart Community.
∎ We are currently seeking a qualified candidate for the Project Coordinator position for an upcoming Barnfonden and Educo Supported project Youth Environmental Stewardship for Eco-friendly Communities (YES4ECO). The project will be implemented over a 24-month period, commencing from June 2023.
∎ Job Location: Amtali Upazila of Barguna District.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Lead the project team in successfully implementing project activities following the project agreement and agreed work plan with the partner organization.
∎ Organize training, orientation, meeting, workshop, seminar, dialogue with policy makers for ensuring rights and entitlements as well as access to government services.
∎ Develop and review project proposal and budget according to the need of the project as well as local context.
∎ Develop project implementation plan and guideline for implementing project activities in successful manner.
∎ Develop capacity of team members for excellent implementation of project activities to achieve the objectives of the project.
∎ Monitor the progress of the project regularly basis with at 70% time in field visit and supervise the subordinate colleagues in supportive role.
∎ Initiate to form different forums at Union and Upazila level (according to the project design) pressure groups to influence duty bearers for ensuring rights and entitlements for women and climate vulnerable people.
∎ Initiate to reduce gender base violence in community and stimulate excluded people to participate in decision making process.
∎ Develop capacity of climate action groups as vibrant groups having a platform to bargain with the duty bearers for their rights and entitlements.
∎ Able to take decisions for appropriate solution of field problems in consultation with senior management.
∎ Coordinate with government officials (Social Welfare Department, Youth Development Department, Women & Child Affairs Department, Agriculture, Forest and Environment, local government representatives and other relevant departments) for exploring capacity building and alternative livelihood options.
∎ Coordinate with other NGOs, CBOs and relevant stakeholders for their support for successful implementation of the project.
∎ Prepare monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual progress reports, learning and good practice documents and disseminate to donor and head office.
∎ Work with a team and build their capacity through coaching, mentoring and regular meetings in line of quality assurance.
∎ Arrange donor visit / maintain coordination with donor by showing impact and meet their expectation, even go beyond that.
∎ Work closely with relevant sectors for successful implementation of Eco-model village project.
∎ Maintain liaison with village leaders and local government authorities for their engagement and contribution in project interventions. Any other tasks relating to the project as may be advised by project authority.
∎ Lead and maintain donor requirements, regulations, and laws related to the organization's donor-funded projects and follow up it with the internal stakeholders to meet the requirements timely.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding issues among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 55 years
∎ Minimum 7 years of experience in relevant program management in development sector with sound knowledge in environment protection and good governance.
∎ Skilled in motorcycle driving with a valid driving license will be treated as added value.
∎ High level of IT skill especially in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Power Point other graphical software with internet communication.
∎ Excellent facilitation/coaching skill in orientation, training, workshop, meeting, seminar etc.
∎ Proven writing and oral communication skills in English and Bengali.
∎ Excellent commitment and dedication towards the job.
∎ Selected person must sign in the declaration forms of Gender Policy, Child Protection Policy, Safeguarding Policy, Anti-Sexual Harassment Policy and Anti-Corruption.
∎ Sufficient experience to provide strong leadership in strengthening capacity of LGIs and other government agencies.
∎ Have knowledge on project planning and management in line with output and outcomes and effective implementation of project activities.
∎ Have knowledge multiyear budget preparation considering planning & implementation phase, cost effective operation of project activities following set guidelines.
∎ Excellent computer operation skills including Microsoft excel, MS word, Power point, email and internet browsing.
∎ Good interpersonal skills have demonstrated proactive roles in team work, excellent report writing skill and speaking skill in both spoken & written in English & Bengali.
∎ Must be gender sensitive with sound knowledge and experience on youth empowerment and community engagement.
Salary:
∎ TK. 46,500 (with two festival bonus and other admissible benefits according to the project budget)
