Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Planning & implementing the SIDA-PBA Project in the intervention areas
∎ Leading the SIDA_PBA field team.
∎ Liaison with external and internal stakeholders·
∎ Donor communication.
∎ Periodic reporting, case presentation, and onsite data validation.
∎ Maintaining relevant documents.
∎ Ensure logistics management and support about activities related to this particular project
∎ Review nutrition and related technical policy and program notes and papers for input.
∎ Consolidate data and information for nutrition and related analytical products, conduct literature searches, and provide input to the sector analytical pieces.
∎ Promote the integration of nutrition into maternal, child, and adolescent health programs and delivery platforms, while ensuring that it takes place within the broader health system strengthening efforts at all level.
∎ Coordination with Government Organizations (NNS) and development partners and donors.
∎ Participate in meetings convened by Friendship and nutrition development partners and donors to represent the Friendship.
∎ Prepare meeting notes focusing on follow-up actions required.
∎ Coordinate with the field team to ensure that the follow-up actions to be undertaken by the Organizations are executed.
∎ Coordinate closely with Human Development, other partners to support nutrition at the country level.
∎ Contribute to analytical and advisory services tasks related to health systems strengthening, addressing public health challenges, linking health to broader human development topics, and/or related topics in country context.
∎ Contribute to the preparation and implementation support of lending operations.
∎ Support the monitoring and evaluation of projects, and reporting and coordination relationships with development partners.
∎ Participate in and contribute to technical assistance work to support relevant capacity-building activities including workshops, seminars, etc.
∎ Participate in and contribute to policy dialogue with government counterparts - including at the national and sub-national levels - and with other relevant stakeholders.
∎ The work will be substantive in nature, requiring frequent interactions with various external and internal counterparts and Development Partners.
∎ The Health/Nutrition specialist will report to the Team Leader. For day-to-day operational and analytical activities, the selected candidate will contribute to, co-lead or lead assigned tasks, and work closely with relevant colleagues, Development Partners.
∎ Master’s degree or higher in Nutrition, Public Health, or a relevant discipline (public policy, international development).
∎ At least five years of relevant work experience in nutrition, public health, development, or health system management.
∎ Experience working in planning, delivering, and evaluating nutrition and/or health programs in Bangladesh or a similar country.
∎ Demonstrated expertise in policy dialogue and the ability to interact effectively with Government officials and various stakeholders at various levels.
∎ Strong knowledge of development, political, social and cultural issues in Bangladesh.
∎ Prior experience in an international development institution (public, NGO or private) or academia is preferred.
∎ Fluency (excellent oral and written communication skills) in English and Bangla is essential with the ability to prepare documents on complex subjects, speak and write persuasively, and present ideas clearly and concisely.
∎ Ability to function well independently and handle multiple tasks, meet changing priorities deliver high-quality analysis, and work on time.
∎ This contract period will be for nine months.
