Job Context:
∎ Young Leaders Fellowship Program (YLFP) is one of the most notable activities of both SPL and DPR project. The principal goal of this program is to train emerging young leaders (age 25-45) with important leadership and communication skills that can boost their political careers as well as to counter the increasing political polarization in Bangladesh through forging professional relationship amongst the rising young leaders of rival political parties. In addition, the alumni fellows also act as one of the most critical part of SPL network members in implementing SPL targets as well as maintaining strong relationship with the political parties.
∎ Senior Leaders Fellowship Program (SLFP) of Democracy International is a highly regarded flagship capacity building program aiming to strengthen the leadership and political skills of progressive mid-to senior-level central and grassroots leaders and provide opportunities for them to build positive relationships with fellows from their areas. Initiated in 2019, SLFP is a multi-party residential training organized for six days in total - divided into two segments. The participants are drawn from Bangladesh Awami League (AL), Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jatiyo Party (JaPa) and undergo intensive training on various topics including leadership, political parties in democracies, internal party democracy, conflict mitigation, electoral systems, campaign management, how to become political change agent, and women`s suffrage. They also conduct fieldwork on a contemporary topic and submitted reports on it.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Key responsibility of the Program Officer for Fellowship program include:
∎ Provide support for the planning and implementation of trainings for SLFP and YLFP.
∎ Assist with the planning and implementation of DI SPL's fellowship programs with junior and senior political party members.
∎ Maintain regular communication with DI's Regional Teams on program activities and logistics.
∎ Provide logistical and administrative support for program trainings, meeting, workshops, trainings, and events.
∎ Prepare program reports and progress updates, prepare various reports.
∎ Conduct field and monitoring visits to DI's regional offices.
∎ Maintain relationships with project stakeholders and beneficiaries.
∎ Facilitate trainings with young political leaders.
∎ Develop module for senior and junior political leaders.
∎ Document and report progress and learning of women and youth team.
∎ Prepare and circulate periodical reports of fellowship team activities as required by SPL senior management.
∎ Prepare and circulate monthly budgets for fellowship team activities.
∎ Data management
∎ Coordination with other teams
∎ Be available for interpreting for expat colleagues in different events and meetings.
∎ Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor, senior director programs, DCOP, or COP.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum of four years of successful experience in development sector;
∎ Experience in mobilizing women and youth;
∎ Must have clear understanding and familiarity with the political context of Bangladesh;
∎ Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills both in English and Bangla;
∎ Existing contacts and familiarity with political party leaders will be an added advantage;
∎ Experience working on USAID projects is an added advantage;
∎ Excellent communication and negotiation skills;
∎ Excellent ICT and computer skills, especially MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft outlook and Internet research;
