Responsibilities & Context:

Job Context
Nilsagor Consumer Products Ltd., a sister concern of Nilsagor Group, a leading FMCG manufacturer, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented R&D
Production Manager to join our soap & detergent manufacturing division. The incumbent will be responsible for developing new soap formulations, improving existing products, ensuring quality standards, and driving cost-effective innovation. This role is central to strengthening our product portfolio and maintaining competitiveness in the germicidal, beauty, and specialty soap segments.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Formulation

  • Develop new soap formulations (bath soap, germicidal soap, beauty soap, laundry soap) and improve existing recipes.

  • Conduct experiments on saponification, fragrance loading, color stability, and additive performance (moisturizers, antibacterial agents, etc.).

  • Optimize formulations for cost efficiency without compromising quality.

  • Develop samples and coordinate pilot/trial production batches.

Quality & Testing

  • Perform physical and chemical testing: TFM (Total Fatty Matter), pH, moisture content, free alkali, hardness, lather, and foam stability.

  • Ensure products comply with BSTI and relevant regulatory standards.

  • Investigate and resolve product defects, complaints, and batch failures.

Raw Material Evaluation

  • Test and approve incoming raw materials (oils, fats, caustic soda, fragrances, additives).

  • Evaluate alternative/cost-effective raw materials and suppliers in coordination with Procurement.

  • Maintain specifications for all raw and packaging materials.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of formulations, test results, and experiments.

  • Prepare technical data sheets, SOPs, and product specifications.

  • Ensure lab safety protocols and proper handling of chemicals.

Coordination & Support

  • Provide technical support to the production team during scale-up and manufacturing.

  • Support the Marketing/Sales team with product claims and technical information.

  • Stay updated on market trends, new ingredients, and competitor products.
