Responsibilities & Context:

About the Engagement
ARMAC is placing a dedicated Payroll Systems Engineer at a BGMEA-member woven garment factory in Mirpur producing shirts, blouses, and pajama sets for export buyers. Mid Asia operates with ~700+ employees across production, finishing, and admin functions. You will be employed by ARMAC and stationed at the factory full-time to take complete technical ownership of their payroll software, biometric attendance network, and supporting infrastructure.
The Role
This is not a traditional HR or Finance payroll role. We need a hands-on IT engineer who can absorb the full technical complexity of running payroll, attendance, and worker data systems for an active export garment factory. Production lines don’t stop because a biometric device dropped offline — and your job is to make sure that never becomes Factory’s problem.
Key Responsibilities
• Payroll software administration: Install, configure, customize, upgrade, and maintain Factory’s payroll/HRIS platform (PiHR, BDPayroll, or equivalent). Manage user roles, permissions, modules, and workflows for ~700+ employees.
• Biometric attendance network: Deploy, configure, and maintain biometric devices at all factory entrances and floor checkpoints (ZKTeco preferred). Handle firmware updates, push/pull protocols, and device-to-server connectivity. Ensure shift-change and overtime data flows clean into payroll.
• Production-linked payroll logic: Configure the system to handle piece-rate, overtime (1× and 2× rates per Bangladesh Labour Act), production incentives, and grade-wise minimum wage compliance (BDT 12,500 floor for unskilled, scaling up by grade).
• Database management: Administer the underlying database (MySQL / MSSQL). Write SQL queries for custom reports, data extracts, and audit trails. Own backup, recovery, and data integrity.
• Buyer & compliance audit readiness: Ensure payroll, attendance, and overtime records are audit-ready at all times for BGMEA, RSC (Ready-Made Garment Sustainability Council), Accord legacy compliance, and direct buyer audits (H&M, Walmart, JCPenney-style social compliance reviews).
• System integrations: Build and maintain integrations between attendance devices, payroll software, accounting/ERP, and any buyer-facing reporting systems.
• Technical troubleshooting: First and last line of defense for any payroll-tech issue — device failures, software bugs, sync errors, report generation, user access problems. Your phone is on during salary processing week.
• Security & data integrity: Manage access controls, data backup, audit logs, and ensure worker payroll data is secured against tampering or leakage.
• Documentation & training: Document every system, SOP, and integration. Train Mid Asia’s HR, Accounts, and Compliance staff so the operation does not become single-person dependent.
• Vendor management: Coordinate with software vendors, biometric device suppliers, and the ISP for procurement, support contracts, and issue escalation.
Must-Have Requirements
• 4–8 years of IT/systems engineering experience, with at least 2 years administering payroll, HRIS, or attendance management software in an RMG, manufacturing, or large-headcount environment
• Strong hands-on experience with biometric device administration — ZKTeco, Hanvon, or equivalent — including network configuration and multi-device deployment
• Solid networking fundamentals: LAN, VPN, TCP/IP, firewall basics, factory-floor connectivity troubleshooting
• Database skills: MySQL or MSSQL administration, intermediate-to-advanced SQL, backup/restore
• Working knowledge of Windows Server and basic Linux administration
• Familiarity with Bangladesh Labour Act 2006 wage and overtime provisions, RMG sector minimum wage grades, and AIT/TDS deduction logic
• Experience with REST APIs, CSV/Excel data handling, and basic scripting (Python, PowerShell, or shell)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or equivalent
Nice-to-Have
• Prior deployment in a BGMEA-member factory or experience supporting a buyer compliance audit
• Familiarity with PiHR, BDPayroll, or other Bangladesh-market payroll platforms
• Exposure to RSC / Accord audit data requirements
• Cybersecurity awareness — basic certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+/Security+) a plus
What We Offer
• Competitive salary band: BDT 60,000–1,10,000/month based on experience and skill depth
• Two festival bonuses (per Bangladesh Labour Act)
• Mobile and conveyance allowance
• Stable single-site deployment with predictable working hours outside of payroll-processing weeks
• Direct working relationship with senior management at both ARMAC and the factory
• Career path within ARMAC to scale up to multi-client / group-level systems leadership
How to Apply
Send your CV with a one-page note covering:
1. The largest biometric/payroll deployment you have personally administered (devices, sites, headcount)
2. The software stack and database platforms you have managed
3. A specific technical problem you solved that saved time or prevented a payroll failure
4. Your current and expected gross monthly salary

Subject line: Payroll Systems Engineer (Factory Deployment) — [Your Name]
Shortlisted candidates will be given a practical task: troubleshoot a simulated device-server sync failure and produce a clean attendance-to-payroll reconciliation from raw biometric data.
ARMAC is an equal opportunity employer. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
