Responsibilities & Context:

A. Quality Control – Sewing

  • Monitor quality performance throughout the sewing production process.

  • Conduct inline, end-line, and patrol inspections according to approved quality standards.

  • Ensure sewing operations are performed according to approved sample, tech pack, specification sheet and workmanship standards.

  • Identify and control major sewing defects such as:

    • Open seam

    • Broken stitch

    • Skipped stitch

    • Uneven stitch

    • Puckering

    • Uneven SPI

    • Raw edge

    • Seam slippage

    • Needle damage

    • Oil/stain marks

    • Measurement deviation

    • Wrong attachment/component

    • Unbalanced garment

  • Verify critical operations and establish additional checkpoints where required.

  • Monitor defect rates and take immediate action when quality performance falls below the acceptable level.

  • Ensure defective garments are properly segregated, identified and sent for correction.

B. Quality Control – Finishing

  • Monitor quality from thread trimming through final finishing and packing.

  • Inspect garments for:

    • Stains and dirt

    • Loose threads

    • Pressing/ironing defects

    • Shape and appearance

    • Measurement deviations

    • Label and ticket errors

    • Folding defects

    • Packing defects

    • Assortment mistakes

    • Shade variation

    • Garment damage

  • Ensure finishing and packing comply with buyer requirements and approved standards.

  • Conduct final/random inspections before shipment as instructed.

  • Ensure garments are properly presented and packed according to buyer specifications.

C. Measurement & Specification Control

  • Check garment measurements against the approved measurement chart/specification.

  • Ensure operators and production teams understand critical measurement points.

  • Monitor measurement deviations and immediately communicate significant issues to Production and Quality Management.

  • Verify measurement after alteration/rework.

  • Maintain measurement inspection records.

D. Defect Analysis & Corrective Action

  • Record and analyze sewing and finishing defects on a daily basis.

  • Prepare defect-wise and line-wise quality reports.

  • Identify recurring defects and initiate root-cause analysis.

  • Apply 5 Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa or other appropriate RCA techniques.

  • Coordinate with Production and relevant departments to implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Follow up corrective actions until the defect is permanently controlled.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions.

E. Quality Improvement

  • Drive reduction of DHU, defect rate, rework, alteration and rejection.

  • Identify quality bottlenecks and recurring problem areas.

  • Conduct quality improvement meetings with Production teams.

  • Recommend process improvements to reduce defects at source.

  • Support implementation of Right First Time (RFT) and zero-defect initiatives.

  • Share quality trends and improvement opportunities with the Quality Manager.

F. Inline & End-Line Quality Management

  • Ensure quality checkpoints are properly maintained in assigned sewing lines.

  • Monitor inline inspectors and quality checkpoints.

  • Ensure end-line inspection is performed according to established procedures.

  • Review quality reports and take immediate action on abnormal results.

  • Ensure no defective garments move to the next process without proper disposition.

G. Pre-Production & New Style Support

  • Participate in Pre-Production Meeting (PPM) and style briefing where required.

  • Review approved sample, buyer comments, measurement specifications and workmanship requirements.

  • Identify potential quality risks before bulk production.

  • Ensure critical quality points of new styles are communicated to relevant Quality and Production personnel.

  • Support first-piece/first-output approval before bulk production.

H. Audit & Compliance Support

  • Support internal, buyer and third-party quality inspections/audits.

  • Ensure quality records are properly maintained and readily available.

  • Participate in factory quality audits and prepare corrective action plans.

  • Ensure quality procedures are followed in sewing and finishing areas.

I. Team Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with Production, IE, Technical, Planning, Merchandising, Cutting, Finishing and Maintenance teams on quality issues.

  • Conduct regular communication with line supervisors and production personnel regarding quality problems.

  • Escalate critical quality issues to the Quality Manager immediately.

  • Provide guidance and technical support to Quality Officers, Inspectors and Checkers.

  • Maintain effective communication between Sewing and Finishing Quality teams.

J. Training & Development

  • Conduct on-the-job quality awareness sessions for inspectors and production personnel.

  • Train quality inspectors on defect identification, inspection methods and buyer requirements.

  • Support operator/supervisor training on recurring quality problems.

  • Develop awareness regarding quality at source and self-inspection.
