Job Responsibilities:

1. Provide immediate and specialized nursing care to newborn babies after delivery and surgical procedures, including C-section.

2. Perform and maintain newborn baby’s IV cannula insertion, IV fluid administration, prescribed injections, and medication administration as per doctor’s instructions.

3. Monitor newborn babies’ vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and overall clinical condition.

4. Provide proper newborn care, including maintaining body temperature, feeding support, hygiene, cord care, and general observation.

5. Observe newborn babies for any signs of respiratory distress, cyanosis, fever, hypothermia, poor feeding, seizures, or other complications and immediately inform the attending doctor.

6. Assist doctors during emergency management and neonatal procedures when required.

7. Maintain proper infection prevention and control practices while handling newborn babies, IV lines, injections, and medical equipment.

8. Ensure proper care and maintenance of IV cannula, infusion lines, and other neonatal medical devices.

9. Maintain accurate nursing records, medication charts, vital signs, treatment records, and newborn observation notes.

10. Educate and guide parents/guardians regarding newborn care, feeding, medication, hygiene, warning signs, and follow-up instructions.

11. Coordinate with doctors, OT staff, midwives, and other nursing staff regarding the condition and treatment of newborn babies.

12. Ensure timely administration of prescribed medicines, injections, IV fluids, and other treatments.

13. Maintain readiness for neonatal emergencies and arrange timely referral/transfer to a higher-level NICU or specialized facility when required.

14. Maintain confidentiality, professional conduct, and compassionate communication with patients and their attendants.

15. Perform any other neonatal nursing-related duties assigned by the Hospital Authority or Medical Officer.
