Educational Requirements:

Job Context:
∎ As part of a multidisciplinary team, Midwives provide care to support the health of women and their babies during pregnancy, labour, and the early postnatal period. Midwives support and educate women regarding care and services, providing health education and parenting advice until care is transferred to a health visitor.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Antenatal care and labour support;
∎ Monitor and examine women during pregnancy;
∎ Develop, assess and evaluate individual programs of care;
∎ Provide full antenatal care, including screening tests in the hospital, community and the home;
∎ Identify high-risk pregnancies and make referrals to doctors and other medical specialists;
∎ Supervise and assist mothers in labour, monitoring the condition of the foetus and applying knowledge of drugs and pain management;
∎ Liaise with agencies and other health and social care professionals to ensure continuity of care;
∎ Arrange and provide parenting and health education;
∎ Provide counselling and advice before and after screening and tests;
∎ Offer support and advice following events such as miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality and neonatal death;
∎ Give support and advice on the daily care of the baby, including breastfeeding, bathing and making up feeds.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 20 to 50 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Proficiency in spoken and written Bengali and English;
∎ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations;
∎ Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public;
∎ A commitment to serving the poor and in full agreement with FH's foundation;
∎ Excellent people skills including warmth and sensitivity, conversational, able to relate to and effectively communicate with people from different cultures (at various levels within the organization);
∎ High integrity and a strong sense of professional ethics;
∎ Able to self-manage a diverse and dynamic set of responsibilities, proactively solve problems and/or suggest viable solutions while advancing goals and objectives;
∎ Comfortable and persuasive when speaking before both large and small groups;
∎ Demonstrated computer operating skills;
∎ Ability to interact positively with all levels of the organization and across organizational and cultural boundaries;
∎ Medical fitness to live and travel in rural and urban areas with extreme conditions and limited medical support;
