Job Summary
The Medical Officer (Eye/Ophthalmology) is responsible for providing primary and emergency eye care services to patients. The officer works under the supervision of a Consultant Ophthalmologist to assist in diagnosis, treatment planning, patient follow-up, and minor ophthalmic procedures.
Department: Eye / Ophthalmology Department
Reports To: Consultant Ophthalmologist / Head of Department (HOD)
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Patient Care
Examine patients in the Eye OPD/IPD
Assist in diagnosing eye diseases and conditions
Conduct vision tests, eye examinations, and take patient histories
Prescribe medications and treatment as required
Manage emergency eye cases
Clinical Responsibilities
Assist in the management of Cataract, Conjunctivitis, Glaucoma, Dry Eye, Eye Infections, and other ophthalmic conditions, Etc.
Assist in Minor OT/Procedures
Ensure proper pre-operative and post-operative patient care
Maintain and update patient medical records accurately
Coordination and Administrative Duties
Coordinate with Consultants and Nursing teams
Follow infection control policies and procedures
Comply with hospital SOPs and medical ethics
Provide necessary counseling and guidance to patients and their attendants
