Experience:
MBBS with Diploma in Ophthalmology with a valid updated BMDC registration (Consultants who are currently in service can also apply).
At least 3 years` experience in providing eye consultancy services in private hospitals or clinics.
Have proven working experience as an Ophthalmologist/Eye Consultant/Eye Specialist.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to maintain doctor-patient confidentiality.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Expert diagnostic skills, empathetic, and compassionate.
Age: Maximum 45 years (The age may be relaxed for the experienced candidates)
Skills and Attributes
Excellent clinical diagnostic skills in Ophthalmology.
Proficiency in basic ophthalmic procedures (e.g., direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy, slit-lamp examination, measurement of intraocular pressure).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to handle stress and high-pressure situations (especially during emergencies).
The Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (MSS), a national NGO, is looking for a suitable candidate for its partner, the Shafiuddin Ahmed Foundation Hospital (SAF Hospital) of Thakurgaon, with the following requirements-
Job Purpose:
To provide medical consultation and treatment for eye-related diseases, assist the consultant(s) for surgery at the OT, and support patient screening in eye camps (as per the requirements of the foundation) at the field level.

Shafiuddin Ahmed Foundation (SAF) Hospital, Mujaborni 11 Mail, Thakurgaon, Bangladesh (a partner hospital of the MSS)
Key Responsibilities
A. Clinical Duties
Patient Assessment and Management:
Conducting detailed history taking and comprehensive ocular examinations, including visual acuity testing, refraction, tonometry (measuring eye pressure), and slit- lamp examination.
Ordering and interpreting basic and specialized diagnostic tests (e.g., visual fields, OCT, B-scans).
Initiating appropriate medical treatment for common eye conditions such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, uveitis, acute glaucoma, and minor ocular trauma.
Assisting in the management of pre-operative and post-operative patients.
Emergency Care:
Managing ophthalmic emergencies and providing initial stabilization for conditions like chemical injuries, penetrating eye injuries, and acute vision loss.
Being on-call to cover ophthalmology emergencies as per rotation.
Surgical Assistance:
Assisting Consultants and Senior Registrars in eye surgeries (e.g., cataract, glaucoma, vitreoretinal procedures).
Performing minor surgical procedures under supervision, such as foreign body removal or chalazion incision and drainage.
B. Administrative and Academic Duties
Documentation:
Maintaining accurate, legible, and timely medical records and patient case files (both electronic and physical).
Completing necessary documentation for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Communication:
Effectively communicating with patients and their families regarding their diagnosis, treatment plan, and prognosis.
Liaising with other medical and surgical departments for multidisciplinary patient care.
Training and Education:
Participating in departmental academic activities, including case presentations, seminars, and clinical audits.
Supervising and teaching junior staff, medical students, and nursing personnel.
