Responsibilities & Context:
Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the hospital laboratory.
Supervise laboratory technologists and support staff to ensure efficient workflow.
Ensure accuracy, reliability and timely delivery of laboratory investigations.
Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and laboratory protocols.
Ensure compliance with quality control and quality assurance requirements.
Coordinate effectively with consultants, physicians, nurses and other clinical departments regarding diagnostic services.
Manage laboratory inventory, reagents, consumables and procurement.
Maintain proper documentation, records and reporting systems.
Ensure laboratory safety, infection prevention and biomedical waste management practices.
Support the hospital in maintaining applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
Identify opportunities for improving laboratory efficiency, service quality and patient safety.
