Experience:
Master’s / MBA / BBA in Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Marketing or a related discipline
Degree from a reputed public or private university
Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in market research, field research, commodity/category intelligence, competitor tracking, channel research, business analysis, trading support or planning support
Experience in local commodities trading, food/agri commodities, wholesale markets, trader/dealer network, distribution channel, procurement/sourcing, trade intelligence or field-based market research will be preferred
Skills & Competencies
Strong capability in business research, primary and secondary research, qualitative and quantitative methods and structured fieldwork
Good understanding of local price movement, demand-supply assessment, stock flow, trader sentiment, pricing analysis, channel analysis, seasonality and category intelligence
Ability to prepare structured reports, dashboards, price trackers, data tables, presentations and concise business recommendations
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and/or Google Workspace, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Docs and Sheets; Power BI, SPSS, R or Python exposure will be an added advantage
Strong communication, stakeholder coordination and presentation skills
Practical understanding of local trader networks, wholesale markets, retail channels, dealer/distributor dynamics, competitor pricing, trade margins and market sentiment
The position is responsible for generating actionable market research and competitive insights for local commodities trading markets. The role supports management and trading decisions through local wholesale and retail market research, trader and dealer network assessment, local price movement tracking, demand-supply observation, stock flow monitoring, competitor tracking, channel intelligence, data validation and evidence-based business recommendations.
Prepare and execute the research agenda for local commodities trading markets, including wholesale and retail price movement, demand-supply dynamics, stock flow, trader sentiment, channel activity and local market risk.
Collect, verify and summarize local market information through field visits, wholesale market checks, dealer/distributor interactions, trader, supplier, broker, retailer and customer discussions, desk research and stakeholder coordination.
Track competitor activities, local pricing movements, product availability, stock signals, distribution movement, depot/warehouse flow, trade sentiment, quality/grade issues, transport cost and local market changes.
Conduct market assessments, wholesale/retail observations, trader and channel interviews, customer feedback collection and route-to-market reviews for assigned commodity categories.
Analyze competitor pricing, sales methods, channel strategy, trade margin structure, local market behavior, seasonal consumption pattern and changing demand-supply dynamics.
Support market share, market size, demand, supply, pricing, channel, seasonality and category analysis using approved templates, source records and validated datasets.
Prepare routine local commodities market reports, dashboards, price trackers, data tables, charts, SWOT analysis and concise decision briefs for management review.
Highlight evidence-based local market risks and opportunities, maintain source logs and ensure confidentiality, version control and professional handling of all reports, datasets, dashboards and communications.
