Experience:
Candidates having CA(CC), LLB will be given preference.
A professional certificate in ITP, V.C from NBR or relevant certificates in VAT-Tax will be given preference.
A minimum of 08 years of professional experience in tax and VAT management, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
In-depth knowledge of the Income Tax Act, 2023, and the VAT and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012.
Proficiency in using accounting software and the NBR`s online VAT system is essential.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and work under pressure.
Job Summary:
The Manager, VAT & Tax is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company`s Value Added Tax (VAT) and Income Tax compliance in strict accordance with the Income Tax Act, 2023, and the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012, as amended. This role involves strategic planning, risk management, liaison with regulatory bodies, and providing expert guidance to internal teams to ensure timely and accurate tax-related activities.
VAT Compliance & Management:
Filing and Reporting: Supervise the accurate and timely preparation, submission, and payment of monthly VAT returns (Mushak 9.1).
VDS Management: Ensure correct calculation, deduction, and deposit of VAT Deducted at Source (VDS). Issue VDS certificates (Mushak 6.6) to suppliers as required by law.
Documentation: Maintain all statutory VAT registers and records (e.g., Mushak 6.1, 6.2, 6.3) and other relevant documents as per the law.
Audit & Liaison: Manage VAT audits and assessments from the VAT authority. Act as the primary point of contact for VAT Circle, Zone, Commissionerate, and the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
Refunds and Adjustments: Oversee the process for applying for VAT refunds, managing adjustments, and handling appeals.
Income Tax Compliance & Management
Return Submission: Prepare and manage the submission of corporate and withholding tax returns on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
TDS Management: Ensure accurate calculation and timely deposit of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on all applicable payments.
Assessments & Hearings: Represent the company in tax hearings, finalize assessments with tax authorities, and respond to all tax-related queries.
Financial Reporting: Work closely with the finance team to prepare financial statements that are compliant with tax and VAT regulations.
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize the company`s tax position.
Risk Management & Advisory:
Policy Adherence: Ensure the company`s compliance with corporate tax and VAT policies and provide technical expertise on relevant laws and regulations.
Risk Mitigation: Conduct regular risk analysis to identify potential compliance issues and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Regulatory Knowledge: Stay informed about changes in Bangladesh`s tax and VAT laws and update internal policies and procedures accordingly.
Guidance: Provide expert advice and guidance on tax and VAT matters to all internal stakeholders, including cross-functional teams and senior management.
External Collaboration: Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to address complex tax issues and ensure compliance.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintain strong relationships with tax and VAT offices.
Handle any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
