∎ DM WATCH was established in 2013 under the name of Disaster Management Watch. Since its establishment, DM WATCH has been involved in research, consultancy, and training, engaging a group of young professionals with diverse backgrounds. Envisioning to contribute to the development of the society and the country as a whole, DM WATCH has been working with various partners from both the public and private sectors.
∎ DM WATCH envisions that an informed and inclusive society tackles its current ecological, economic, cultural, social and technological development challenges responsibly for a sustainable and affluent future. Thus, its mission is to build a platform for researchers and development enthusiasts to conduct impactful researches, generate meaningful knowledge and, help its stakeholders in making informed decisions concerning development challenges. Currently, DM WATCH has been prioritizing five practice areas-Agriculture and Natural Resources; Environment, Climate Change, Hazard and Disaster; Public Policy and Governance; Public Health and WASH; and Urban Development and Management. It consists of a pool of dedicated professionals with commendable expertise working in the aforementioned practice areas.
∎ DM WATCH is working to contribute in the creation of a sustainable and desirable future through quality research and consultancy in partnership with government agencies, donor agencies, INGOs, local NGOs, and various academic and research institutions. Some partners include, among many, UNDP, Asian Development Bank, CARE Bangladesh, Habitat for Humanity, NETZ, Plan International, Save the Children, SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, Swiss Red Cross, Swisscontact, University of College Dublin, VSO, Water Aid, World Bank, Bernard Van Leer Foundation, Christian Aid, Concern Worldwide, Daira UK, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mahindra Consulting Engineers Ltd, IMED (GoB), Ministry of Planning (GoB), LGED (GoB), UDD (GoB).

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Comprehensive review of development issues
∎ Stay abreast of what is currently going on in the field of social security/protection, related to public policy and governance
∎ Reading papers, journals, or books to keep updated on new advances in the relevant sector
∎ Preparing research proposals, both technical and financial
∎ Searching for opportunities of international research grants
∎ Preparing and submitting grant applications
∎ Administering awarded grants
∎ Designing experiments and developing research protocols
∎ Developing indicators and preparing different study tools for collecting primary and secondary data
∎ Using digital platform (e.g., KoboCollect, ODK) for preparing advanced forms for different data collection
∎ Training and supervising the mobility of enumerators
∎ Transcribing and/or cleaning data for analysis
∎ Analyzing data and writing report
∎ Attending and arranging events such as conference and seminar
∎ Collaborating with colleagues in multidisciplinary research projects
∎ Supervising junior colleagues
∎ Publishing review and original papers in scientific peer reviewed journals

Additional Requirements:
∎ The candidate must have very clear understanding the about the social protection programs and its history in Bangladesh and abroad. Regular expectations include, but are not limited to, defining research problem, reviewing the literature, formulating hypotheses, preparing the research design, conducting experiments, collecting, wrangling, and analyzing data, interpreting findings and writing report, publishing, and disseminating results.
∎ Have the love for science and research
∎ Have a firm willingness to continue the career in the field of research and consultancy
∎ Have advanced knowledge of research methodology and statistics
∎ Have proven record of science writing (publication in peer reviewed journals are preferable)
∎ Have willingness to work under academic challenge
∎ Be humble and open to criticism
∎ Be always prepared to step out of the comfort zone by learning about new ideas and exploring novel and difficult topics
∎ Have good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
∎ Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in Bangla (if Bangladeshi) and English
∎ Have good organizational and administrative skills
∎ Be a critical thinker, numerate, curious, independent, exited to learn, flexible, creative, professional, a passionate reader, a dynamic worker, organized and collaborative, and comfortable with new tech.
∎ Have strong attention to detail, the ability to problem solving, the capacity to lead a team, and the practice of critical analysis

Salary:
∎ BDT 80,000-BDT 110,000
