Job Context:
∎ Nature Conservation Management (NACOM) is the pioneer, non-government, pro-environment organization in Bangladesh founded in 1998 with broader mandate of activities in the area of natural resources management, climate change and livelihood development. NACOM`s goal is protection of nature for better human life.
∎ NACOM invites application from potential Bangladeshi nationals (Male/Female) for implementing Ecosystem Conservation through Livelihood Improvement and Forest Enhancement (ECO LIFE) Project, funded by USAID. This is a three years project and to be implemented in Cox`s Bazar District, Bangladesh.
∎ The intent of the project is to conserve and manage the local ecosystem, resources and biodiversity within targeted Protected Areas (PA)and Ecological Critical Areas (ECA) to restore ecological functions and integrity while advancing co-management in PAs and community-based management in ECA for consolidating long-term co-management of PAs and ECAs. The focuses of the present project are:
∎ Forest and watershed ecosystems restored to a functional level in targeted areas;
∎ Targeted host communities adopt less damaging fuel alternatives to firewood;
∎ Sustainable livelihood options adopted by the targeted portion of the host-community;
∎ Local Actors` (CMOs, UP, NGOs and others) organizational capacity strengthened; and
∎ Evidence gathering, collaborative, learning and adapting monitoring and impact assessment system developed and made functional to inform Funded Organization and other partners.
∎ In order to restore the ecological functions and integrity it will be necessary to rehabilitate degraded habitats undertaking restoration programs, protection to critical and threatened species and ecosystems, building local conservation constituencies through awareness raising and capacity building of key stakeholders, As poverty is the major driver for local forest and resource degradation, livelihood protection of poor resource users through providing alternate income generation activities.
∎ Job Nature : Full-time (32 months).
∎ Job Location: Project site within Cox`s Bazar District. May have to stay in the rural areas. Preference will be given to the female candidate

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Responsible for designing, planning and implementing of overall capacity and training programs and Governance activities including Gender Actions under the project scope.
∎ Carry out day-to-day activities of capacity building component at the regional level and support site offices.
∎ Lead and coordinate all local level trainings, meetings, dialogues, cross-visits and organize advocacy events.
∎ Ensure good governance and transparency at regional and site levels.

∎ Building capacity of the local government, communities and climate vulnerable groups with guidance of component managers.
∎ Contribute to landscape level good governance by advising and conducting activities.
∎ Assist project team in sensitization activities of the local government agencies.
∎ Participate in team building and local planning of implementing natural resource management activities.
∎ Develop necessary guidelines, training manuals, action plans of Co-management organizations etc.
∎ Actively participate in local conflict resolution with site offices and provide diagnostic support and report to management authority.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 8 years work experiences in gender, women empowerment, manual development and training conduct, livelihoods and biodiversity conservation projects. Must have adequate work experiences with local communities. Woman will be given preference.
∎ Sound computer literacy and motor bike driving.

Salary:
∎ Maximum BDT 70,000/- per month
