Job Context:
∎ Red Cross - Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President`s Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 48 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.
∎ BDRCS in collaboration with ICRC, introduced the CHT-WASH Project in Khagrachari in 2016 and Bandarban in 2018 under Community Development (CD) Department. Set up of household based hygienic latrine, and installation of deep and shallow tube-wells and repairing of tube-wells are being part of the project as hardware component. Besides, hygiene promotion activities including PHAST (Participatory Hygiene Promotion Training) and CHAST (Child Hygiene and Sanitation Training) at community and school level are also important part of the project. Disaster Management is another significant component of the project which is being implemented in Bandarban and Lama municipality under Bandarban Red Crescent Unit. This project is being extended to Rangamati district for WASH interventions and for Disaster Management Component in Khagrachari district from January 2020.
∎ Currently Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is looking for a suitable Bangladeshi national for the following position of WASH, in CHT Project:
∎ (Only Female Candidates from any CHT Districts are Eligible)
∎ Reportable to : Project Officer (PO)-WASH, CHT WASH Project, Rangamati
∎ Duration of contract : 1 year (with possibility of extension upon satisfactory performance)
∎ Duty station: BDRCS Rangamati Unit Office, Rangamati
∎ Purpose: Plan and implement Hygiene Promotion works/issues, meeting and sessions at community and unit level under CHT WASH Project.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Specific:
∎ Assist PO-WASH in implementing project activities at field as per plan.
∎ Plan and implementation of Hygiene Promotion (HP) activities at different communities.
∎ Regular field visit for conduction of different sessions on HP issues by using various IEC materials/tools and supervise/guide field staff i.e. Hygiene Promoters.
∎ Take part to select new communities for WASH interventions through community consultation and rapport building.
∎ Organise and facilitate the PHAST and CHAST sessions and monthly meeting at different communities and schools.
∎ Assist PO-WASH to organize different events e.g. caretaker training, stakeholder's coordination meeting, phase-out meeting etc.
∎ Assist PO-WASH to observe various national/international days related to WASH and DM.
∎ Assist PO-WASH to organise and implement KAP (baseline and end line) survey of existing and provided water and sanitation sources/services;
∎ Assist PO-WASH to Prepare beneficiary/household list for latrines support at communities requiring a complete set of latrine materials for underground and super structure.
∎ Collect project various data/map as per desire of BDRCS (CD Dept. WASH team). and ICRC (WatHab team).
∎ Assist in preparing programmatic and financial reports and case stories as when as necessary.
∎ Maintain regular communication with HPs, Community Water Management leaders, beneficiaries and other local stakeholders.
∎ General:
∎ Maintain regular coordination with PO-WASH (Unit) and with WatHab Field Engineer (ICRC) as per need.
∎ Maintain coordination with PC & WASH Officer at NHQ Dhaka.
∎ Maintain coordination with Secretary & Convener of PIC and ULO for effective implementation of project.
∎ Maintain coordination with local stakeholders and CDC leaders at community level.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 32 years
∎ Only females are allowed to apply
∎ 3 (three) years working experience on WASH sector/issue.
∎ Experience on planning, data collection, community mobilization and reporting as well as working in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team will be given a priority.
∎ Skills & abilities:
∎ Be a good team member.
∎ Able to plan and work independently with minimum supervision.
∎ Be familiar with tribal culture and capacity to work with communities.
∎ Skill on computer operation both in English and Bangla (Bijoy software) and internet navigation capacity and also having knowledge/experience in operating software i.e.MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. will get preference.
∎ Able to plan and work independently with minimum supervision and have to work under pressure with minimum deadline.
∎ Personal qualities/requirement:
∎ Commitment to the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles and values
∎ Be honest, transparent and high level of integrity.
∎ Willing to work for vulnerable, ethnic, minority, conflict and any disaster emergencies with different types of people/culture/content if needed.
