Job Context:
∎ The acronym OPCA stands for `Organization for the Poor Community Advancement`. OPCA is a local voluntary, non-profitable, non-political Bangladeshi Organization. It is registered under MRA, NGO Bureau, Social Welfare and Youth Development. Since 1992, OPCA is working with on development sector, for lasting solution and entitlement of poor community, WASH, GBV, SRH, Skill Development Program, Health, Agriculture, Disabilities and Mirsarai Autism Center. It is funded by PKSF, Anukul Foundation, Brac/SDC, DRRA/Netherlands, Care Bangladesh, Care/UNICEF.
∎ This is professional work in the field of horticulture. Methods of performing tasks are usually left to the judgement of the employee with an administrative superior available for assistance if needed. Work is performed under general direction and is reviewed upon completion.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provides professional advice on the selection, ordering, planting, and maintenance of trees, shrubs, ground covers, and turf grasses on field.
∎ Analyzing horticultural yields, operational costs and financial returns
∎ Maintaining financial and administrative records
∎ Writing and modifying business plans
∎ Supervising and training staff
∎ Grows potted plants and nursery stock and maintains records on the growing operation.
∎ Trains and supervises subordinate personnel in greenhouse operations and in the proper methods and techniques of planting ornamental plants.
∎ Trains ground personnel in the techniques of pruning, wound dressing, cavity repair, and the cabling and bracing of trees and shrubs.
∎ Prepares orders for various types of plants and seeds.
∎ Assists in the preparation of maintenance programs for the control of plant diseases and insects.
∎ Prepares fertilizer programs for various types of plants.
∎ Confers with landscape architect and other personnel in the selection of plants.
∎ Supervises with the operation of the Departmental Greenhouse.
∎ liaising with colleagues, local officials, customers, professional groups etc
∎ ensuring that deadlines and quality standards are met within set budgets
Additional Requirements:
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Knowledge of the principles of supervision.
∎ Knowledge of the elementary principles of landscaping.
∎ Ability to supervise the work of others
∎ Organizing/giving presentations and demonstrations
∎ Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision, be a self-starter, team builder, innovative, and demonstrate the capacity for maintaining high professional standards and a positive, can-do attitude, in a rapid growth setting.
Salary: Tk. 35000 (Monthly)
