Responsibilities & Context:

Job Purpose

The Head of Academic Affairs provides strategic and operational leadership for all academic functions at Essex School of Business. The role is responsible for ensuring academic excellence, maintaining rigorous quality standards, and delivering innovative, industry-aligned programmes. This position oversees curriculum development, faculty performance, academic policies, and compliance with international standards, while fostering a culture of research, continuous improvement, and student success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Academic Leadership
    Develop and implement academic strategies aligned with the institution’s mission and growth objectives.

  • Curriculum Development & Review
    Lead the design, evaluation, and continuous improvement of academic programmes to ensure global relevance and academic rigour.

  • Quality Assurance & Accreditation
    Ensure compliance with academic regulations and accreditation requirements, maintaining high institutional standards.

  • Faculty Leadership & Development
    Oversee recruitment, mentoring, evaluation, and professional development of academic staff.

  • Academic Operations Management
    Supervise academic scheduling, assessments, academic policies, and student progression systems.

  • Research & Scholarly Activities
    Encourage and support faculty research, publications, and academic innovation initiatives.

  • Student Academic Experience
    Ensure high-quality teaching delivery and enhance student learning outcomes and academic support systems.

  • Partnerships & Collaboration
    Build relationships with international academic institutions, industry partners, and professional bodies.  

  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting
    Use data and analytics to evaluate academic performance and drive continuous improvement.
